I ride with a group of guys who use CB radios to communicate while traveling, etc. I don't suppose any of you have found a good CB set up for the Sprint have you? The J&M radio is great and self contained, but very expensive. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I use a Starcom1 that is a sort of multiplexer device that integrates a phone, music, cb/two way into the helmet headset.

You could use any cb or two way device that you wanted then.

It also has remote PTT hookup for the handlebar.

I have mine rigged up so it all is contained in the tankbag. It works nicely.

It wasnt cheap but its flexible.

I use the Starcom 1 also, but I use a GPRS/FRS Radio, I don't know what CB Radios that the Starcom supports but it should work with most of the hand-held CB's that accept a headset; and then you don't have to figure out where to put the antennae.

The Starcom 1 works very well, I have my GPS, Radar Detector, Cell Phone, Motorola GPRS/FRS Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio connected and it provides an intercom. It is sweet

Right now I am using the VOX setting, but I am going to switch to using a Push-To-Talk (PTT) button, it keeps cutting of my sentences. (OVER)

I use the Motocomm Audioboss AB-1m...

It is cheaper... and below 50mph works great... anything above 50 and people can't hear me...

you can hook up radio/mp3, cell phone, radar detector, and 2-way radio (assume CB will work too)... additionally it comes with two headsets with PTT switches... for use with a pilon...

The only problem I had was the mic was too sensitive and kept cutting out the radio due to wind noice... I corrected that by splicing in a toggle switch... so the mic is disabled until I flip the toggle.. then the PTT switch will work...

The Motocomm site shows the cost at $169... but I was able to find it for about $140...

Motocomm clicky

Wow! I didn't expect that there would be someone else who liked to have a CB and Stereo on a bike. The Starcom sounds great. How much does it cost to get set up? Also, what kind of tank bag did you use?

I got my Starcom off ebay. Just type in starcom1 in the search. Someone named corsastrada. Good service. And as far as tank bags go, any will work. In my photo album I have one picture of the starcom in the tankbag.

I use a Nelson Rigg tankbag. It says "Silverstreak" on it, not sure the model number but is works well.

The only mod I made so far with the Starcom was to splice in a "quick connect" for the power using mini jack connectors (like for headphones), so I could remove the tankbag easily. But I have yet to find a way to do that for the PTT attached to my grip. I am afraid to cut that cable and not be able to make the proper reconnect.

Most of the cables on the Starcom use a standard mini-DIN connector like for a computer mouse (pre USB), you can use an extension cable, they work fine. I have mine wired into my bike and I used them for the headsets, and the PTT. You could leave the PPT switch installed and then have a little cable coming out of your bag for the PTT.

Say, Triumph, that is one sweet looking rig and I don't just mean the radio set up. I really like your exhaust and mirrors too! I would love to get a better set of mirrors on my bike. Was that a difficult or expensive upgrade?
