My insurance company is requiring an alarm be installed on my new '03 Sprint ST to get full coverage. (47 yrs old good driving record and no claims...go figure) Does anyone have any experience with alarms regarding what is good and what to stay away from? I need something with battery backup, tilt switch (motion) and ignition interlock. I'm thinking a pager would be nice as well.
Any help would be appreciated!

I have the standard Triumph alarm fitted on my ST. It is from a company called datatool.
Works fine (don't forget stock fitted) the only thing I find really annoying is that when I stop my bike near one(not all thank god) of those huge antenna masts (you know those gigantic sticks covered with antennas for broadcast and mobiles etc) my remote refuses to work...

I have no other experience with other bike alarms.

good luck

I added the website from datatool

Thanks Spidertex. I've looked at the datatool on the website but cannot find if it has everything my insurance company requires.
Battery backup, alarm, ignition interlock, and tilt switch.
Does yours have all of these features?

Hi svnowst,
the standard Triumph Alarm covers:
Battery Back-up, independent siren (makes a hell of a racket), wiring tamper detection and vibration detection.
Ignition is interlocked -I think-

Has a service, valet mode (with a very annoying beep every 15 seconds, drives you made after a while) and the vibration alert can be switched off via the remote (gas tanking, ferry crossing, etc)

hope it helps

I've had the standard one fitted too, its actually a top of the range veto evo from data tool, and is a category one product for insurance.

I also find it a little difficult to use next to other bikes with alarms and end up waving the remote around to find the best spot.

I also found the seat alarm switch a pain, as I'd set it, walk away and 20 seconds later would hear it going off as the seat had uncompressed itself, hence causing the contact points to open and trigger the alarm.

Apart from that pretty good...

It has a SEAT sensor too? Wow, that factory option seems to be a high-end product. Not that anyone would try to steal my 4 yr old, worn-out ol' bike, but does anyone know how much that would cost to buy...in US dollars?

I don't have an alarm yet but from what I've read the Triumph alarm is a quality unit although expensive compared to the rest. It's approximately $675 Can. for the alarm and I'm told it connects to the bike via factory plugs. I've been looking at the Scorpio SRi500SE alarm.
Just waiting for the OK for this model from my insurance company.

I bought a brand Scorpio SR-i500 with TR6 remote, and battery backup, at a local shop and called Scorpio. They are developing the connector for the Triumph and happened to have the mockup which they sold to me. The unit was amazingly easy to install and works like a charm! :-D

i have the Scorpio SR-i500SE. Comes with everything you're looking for. 2 way pager/remote, ignition kill, motion sensor and tilt sensor. Works great from what I've seen so far. I believe it has the battery back-up as well.
