ok, 05 ST, new noise.
When in neutral there is a whirling/fan type noise coming from the gearbox (no it is not the radiator fan). If I pull in the clutch lever it dissappears. I can pull the clutch lever in and let it out and each time the noise appears and dissappears.
Im concerned for 2 reasons:
1. the noise is new
2. dont want the bike going into gear on its own

I checked the clutch linkage/lever/cable and it all seem ok. But there in a tiny bit of oil that has come up through the clutch lever seal at the top of the case and trickled down the cover.

Any ideas?

Sorry Mike,
that's a new one on me. I don't know that it is possible for your bike to go into gear on it's own though.
Someone more mechanical than me will know here for sure though.

I hear the same noise on my '02 Sprint ST. Sometimes it's louder than others. Didn't do it at the dealer when it was in for the fuel connector recall.
I have about 13k on the bike now.
