It is possible but far too expensive to bother with....why not just buy an abs model?

Perhaps because when I bought my Sprint there were no ABS models available yet, and the cost of selling it and buying a new one (if i can even find one) is also very big?

I'm just wondering because the ABS parts are probably few and perhaps not crazy in price. Less than $1500 and it is interesting. The biggest expense might just be the ABS unit itself, the rest is just brake lines and couple of sensors..

Must be absolutely barking...thinking of fitting the ABS to a non ABS bike !

With ALL the parts required.....it'll be FAR cheaper to buy a new bike !

Have a ring round the dealers, & P/X it for an ABS version.
I've heard of a few cancelled ST orders recently,

amazing how news travels about accessories..

i.e. PANNIERS, ALARM & the stupidly designed seat mount bolts !

Its not just the brain and sensors but you would need to modify the wiring harness and black box (possib). Might need different forks and swingarm for mounting the sensors. On BMWs the wheels are different as the ABS ring is seperate from the rotors. Its not a simple task and it would probably be as much, if not more, than the loss of selling your bike and buying a new one. One angle would be to wait a bit, sell your and buy a used ST-ABS.

Maybe it isn't that expensive to retrofit the bike. I was looking at my buddy's '05 and noticed the left fork has a boss for the sensor. I'll assume the wiring harness has a connector for the box. You'll need a new M/C or a piggyback unit, and of course an ABS rotor.

It would probably work out cheaper than the hit you wouild take selling your used '05 and buying the new '06 with ABS.

Would someone with an ABS machine tell me if both wheels have sensors, or just the front?

Rotor sensors on front and rear.
Fork legs are the same.
If you look at the recent copy of triumph torque which is free to RAT members there is a detailed article on the abs system, it includes the schematic diagrams of the hydraulic system.... once you have studied it you will realise why it doesnt make sense to retrofit the system as a diy option.Secondly i doubt you insurance company would be keen to cover you on a modified bike with a diy fit abs setup....
I doubt you would lose too much in depreciation by selling your current bike and buying the abs model if its that much of a requirement to ride with abs.
