AAA Insurance based on cc's

I found this interesting. My AAA insurance agent confirmed that in addition to the usual parameters (age, annual mileage, licence), the ONLY factor to determine a bike's insurance cost is the size of the engine.

I even gave her an example of a 998cc GSXR1000/R1/ZX10R/whatever that can hit 186mph with its 160 bhp versus a large, slow cruiser with the same size engine..........same cost to insure!!

I guess this could be construed as good news - if you don't ride cruisers.

It also means your 955 Daytona will cost you less than your 1050 Spint! That was one of the reasons I wish they had NOT upped the cc's on the new model Sprint, but then I'm more than happy with the power of my RS.

Forgot to mention that I had an official quote (out of interest) that put the '05 ST at $104/year more than my '00 ST.

Anyway - the money I save in gas more than covers the insurance so it's all good.
