wondering if any of the more mechanically inclined folx here might have an easy answer here.
other day rolled out my 01 RS...thumbed the starter and got a click...that's it...a click...no turnover...no tictictictic...
a click.
anyway...battery was strong so i thought it might be a relay. i swapped out what i think was the starter relay (the one that CLICKED the loudest as i thumbed the starter) with another identical one in the array. click...no change.
i got some new relays...some are 5 pin and some are 4 pin....and without a more comprehensive manual (gotta do that) i'm not sure which one to replace...so i replace them all in an organized and orderly fashion to eliminate duplicate replacements. no change...click.
i move to the solenoid. i'm able to jump the solenoid and start the bike. that tells me (correctly or incorrectly?) that i probably have a bad solenoid. assuming the relays are good, of course.
i swap out the solenoid...no change...click....
at this point...i'm frustrated. if it becomes a matter of tearing the wiring apart to find what's wrong, i'll hand it over to a shop...i'm not that ambitious or qualified.
if there's something simple i'm missing...i'm all ears...
any ideas?
thanx
