Hello there;

I am doing a feature for MCN in their Old Vs New series and wanted to talk to bikers who have owned - or at least ridden - both the 2005 Sprint ST and 2000-2004 models.

Opinions on performance, handling, braking, styling, reliability, plus details on any mods you have done/accessories fitted etc - plus a mugshot type photo of yourself - that's what we need.

If you can help, please email me; alastair@insidebikes.com or text/call me on 07739 466 569 by Sunday 28th August 05 - I will call you back whenever it is convenient.
cheers
Alastair W

Missed this original post, but....
Read the Old verses New Sprint article in MCN today.

Must STRONGLY DISSAGREE with the verdict,
the 05 ST Sprint REALLY is a big improvement...
so much so, it even makes the venerable VFR now look like a right old DUFFER !

However...it's true the panniers & heat still need sorting...

but...just ask any owner of any "new model " japanese bikes....
theres always one or two recalls before the model is "finally snagged" with the help of the end user out there in the marketplace".

Where did they dig up a bunch of people who prefer the old bike. Hardely represents what most of us think.

Maybe none of the '05 or '06 ST owners sent him their opinions.

I voted for my '03. The '05 is very nice (especially the tranny) but after putting 30 miles on one, I like my bike better. And, it doesn't cook my thighs and I've got BIG bags.

And, it's paid for.

I believe that a lot of people, this side of the pond anyway, migrated to Triumph because of the new ST. I know I, as others on here, went from the VFR to ST after 25 years of riding Hondas in my case.

What puzzles me is why MCN asked on this forum , which to be fair, is hardly the target audience for their paper. There are British based forums, like bikersoracle, with more Triumph UK based readers, perhaps Alastair can tell us why he chose a US based site.

Well can you Alastair?

I was in that artical. New bikes good. The old one was good. Some things were better than others. Whatever. Just a bike.

Not the best in the world, not the worst.

As a daily driver I can say I lost a good deal in fuel milage, and it's still hard to turn over. The '01 started like a dream for 18k miles, and got 40 mpg in the city.

I don't look at my bike and drool all over it. Like I said before, just a bike.

Get over yourselves.

I dont think mcn like the new St as its the 2nd time they have slated it. MCn is a bit like jeremy clarkson who slags of vauxhall but loves ford, maybe thats because he is in ford's pocket and gets looked after....or am i being cynical?

Read everyother publication not by e'map and the new St is the mutts nuts.
