Hey Crew

This topic has probably been covered but as i am new please indulge me this question. I have just purchased a 2002 Sprint RS and i'm finding I have a "Ticking" at low revs/Cold.
Hopefully it is not:
1. Al Queada
2. Something that will mean my engine grinds to a halt.

Any Ideas????

My goes clickty - click irregularly since the beginning. Asked my dealer, not an issue he said.. it's the mechanics inside... ????
Whatever, I'm at 54000Km now, it's still clicketing at idle now and then. Got used to it.

That's it, tick tick, clickety click. I wonder if it is inherant across the range.
I can live with it if I know my motor won't suffer.

Pugs,
in the beginning I thought it would have been valve related, or maybe the piston-rod-bearing (don't know the right technical term in English sorry - the shim-bearing between the big crank shaft and the rods holding around it with the piston on it). A friend of mine had an Alpha Romeo with some molten bearings producing a similar sound. But my dealer said that he couldn't hear anything abnormal!

Sorry that I can't help you more.

It's the sounds of high dollar strippers trying to chase you down on their high heels to tell you how cool your bike is.
Slow down at your own risk. :-D

I actually noticed that in my 02 sprint st for the short number of hours that i actually had it in one piece. When i get it back from the dealership I'll confirm it.

My RS does this. It sounds like either a loose valve or an exhaust leak. I've checked my valves more than once and eliminated that possibility. I've also looked for an exhaust leak between the header pipes and head. I can't find any evidence of a leak.
It is most noticeable in the first couple of minutes after a cold start.
The primary gear noise gives the bike some character. This tick sometimes worries me.
Spidertex, are you talking about the bearing where the connecting rod rotates on the crankshaft? We call that a lower rod bearing. You are much better at English than I am at any second language.

Jeff, yes that's the one. thx for pointing that out to me.

About the 2nd language: Flemish TV shows a lot of British and American shows with sub-titles. Star Trek helped me learn English... I don't know if that is a good thing!?
