Hi
Some of the problems are cured! By replacing a cracked inlet hose and re-programming the EMS the bike now runs good on low revs. However the problem with "jerky" performance from 0 - 100 km/h remains, but I can live with this.

When I try to keep a steady pace below 100 Kmph my Sprint is very jerky and irregular, alsmost as if someone is standing behind it and pulling me back! As soon as I get over 100Kmph the pace is very smoth and comfortable. It's also quite poor on low revs, it's very easy to get an engine stop when I pull away from a stand still. I also recognize that the engine takes a couple of seconds before it goes down to idling speed, it stays at 2500 revs a couple of seconds. A Triumph dealer have changed the program for the injection and the fuel filter as well as fuel pump but the problem remains. Anyone recognize the problem???

You might want to check the chain tension. I find when my chain is a little on loose side it's a bit jerkier than if its a little tighter. However, don't over tighten the chain!! It can cause it's own problems. For lower speed drivability, you might also want to consider getting slightly smaller sprocket on front (drop a tooth) or add a couple of teeth to the rear sprocket.

The bike you describe is very unlike my '00 RS. I dont' think a sprocket change is going to help. I have the stock sprocket and I don't see any of that stuff.

It sounds like you need a mechanic that is willing to spend more time diagnosing a problem. The fuel pump is a mighty expensive WAG, but i don't have the whole story so maybe it is legit.

so according to my manual, poor running at low speeds could be a weak spark (bad battery, spark plugs, spark plug caps, ECM), Fuel air mixture incorrect (clogged injector, clogged air filter, poor sealing on air box, fuel tank breather hose blocked, intake air leak, idle air control valve or vacuum hoses, pressure regulator, filter, fuel pump, relay) or finally low compression (loose plugs, loose cylinder head, tight valve worn piston/liner/rings, oh good lord, there is too much to mention here, get your own manual)

But in my experience when a fuel pump goes, you end up on the side of the road in short order. That would have been the last thing I replaced unless I had tested it and something didn't check out.

Also just for the record, my idle air control valve vacuum hoses were rotted at the fittings and caused a whole host of low speed problems. It is something to check at least. Post up when you find out what is wrong..

my 2001 rs after market exhaust can. has had a similar problem.
I went to the dealer for a stepper motor problem ( the bike would idle down and die when I put it 1st gear) while I was at the dealer they put the map in for stock bike with exhaust can. after that I noticed at exacley 4800-5100 rpm the bike was surging kind of like the buffetting you might get being beside a tractor and trailer. It wasn't all the time everytime so it was hard to diagnose. I went back to the dealer and luckily he felt it. He did an ohm test on the something and called his rep , they thought it was probably a TPS throttle position sensor, they did not have one in stock. I thought it was quite a coinsidence that it never did it until the new map, so He put the old, stock map in, and it seem cured, I called back and let him know it must have been the map. He said it can't be the map. well today it started again, so it was not the new map. and like the tech said sometimes the TPS goes out where you ride at and I am at 5000 rpm (80mph alot of the time. so I will have hime send me a new TPS, since they are bolt on non adjusting. something else I noticed today the bike was missing terribly at 5000, while riding I hit the kill switch and restarted it and it seemed to wake up in a different world and rarely did it the rest of the way home.
