Has anyone experienced problems with the fuel gauge sending unit? My 03' Sprint ST has been in the shop for 3 consecutive failures. The shop has replaced sensor (sending unit) and baffle twice, and bike is in shop now for same problem. Symptoms are, the needle on fuel gauge floating from empty to full, followed immediately by the check engine light going on, which will actually go off after some time.
Any help or answers are appreciated.

Seems to be a common prob on Sprints.

My '04 model, manuf. date '05, suffered a dead sender unit in the first month.

Is it? It is the first time I hear about this.... Is there a recall for this issue?

Had same problem on the '02- replace the battery with a fresh one. That cures a host of electrical problems. If that doesn't get it then the gauge is bad. Most 01-04 Sprints had some form of "guess gauge" symptoms. Mine reads full for 80 miles then drops to just above E in 40 miles then stays there until the low fuel light comes on at 180 miles. gave up on accuracy and just click the odo every fillup, watch the miles and the low fuel light.
But if you're having other instruments going flitchy then the new battery will sort that.
cheers
