I bought an 04 RS and have never taken off the rear wheel. Can anyone give me instructions so I don't have to take out a second mortgage on my home to buy a shop manuel? Thanks Dan

Quite easy if you have the right tools. Remove the exhaust. Remove the clip retaining the wheel nut. Remove the nut and washers and place them in an order that you will know they fit back. You need to apply the back brake while removing the nut.

The socket for the rear wheel is a metric size, that I can't remember (46mm?) but a 1" 13/16th socket works. This is what I've used on getting my nut off.

You will most like require a breaker bar too. And It's a b*i*tch to get the thing off.

Trust me. Either buy a manual, or suck up to someone that has one and either borrow it, or get a copy of the pages.

Special tools, critical torques. And, your ass (and maybe a passenger) on it going down the road.

I'd fax the pages to you, but I haven't gotten around to getting the spine cut off mine and haveing it drilled for a 3-ring binder.

An impact wrench would make for an ideal way to lessen the work load. Harbor Freight has the electric ones pretty cheep. This way it will be off ZIP, without the balancing act with the B'Bar and standing on the brake. Then put it back on with the final proper torque.

I was wondering if anyone would respond to that!!! I wonder if getting a nut off is better than having a screw loose? :jest:
