Well, I just got back from my cross Canada trip. We took a month and traveled 14,643 Km or 9,098 miles. I traveled through all ten Provinces, and back through 14 States. The bike ran great. The tool bag remained closed the whole trip, I didn't even have to adjust the chain. One lower fairing screw fell out, but I had I wire tie in my pocket, so that didn't count.

When we were in Montreal, I asked the Triumph dealer, "Moto Montreal" if they had time to change my oil. The mechanic was off sick, but the owner, Chris, said "we have to look after the traveler" and did it himself. Good shop, great people.

At aprox 11,000 Km, on the bike, I had a new rear tire put on at "Bro's Cycle Supply Ltd.," in Windsor Nova Scotia. Same type of deal, they were booked in the shop for the next week, but they fit me in. Also nice people.

Any complaints? Yes. Way to much lag time in front brake application. I'm sure they need bleeding, and I'm also sure the calipers should be removed to do so.

At about 140 Km/h the mirrors remind me of the ones on my old Triumphs. I assumed it was because some rigidity had been lost when the aero screen was installed. I have read other vibrating mirror stories from people with stock screens, so that can't be it.

The seat was not as comfortable as I had hoped. We stopped at Sturgis on the way home. I tried an "Air Hawk" seat cushion but it just forced the boys into the tank. I will try my sheep skin, which I had forgotten at home.

I asked for a new fairing screw at two dealers, neither had one.

Good stuff. Am I happy with the bike? You bet! Great passing power. Excellent handling. Just an all round neat bike. We got rained on in all ten Provinces and two States and the stock 020 tyres never gave a hint of letting go.

I imagine I forgot some stuff, but......

Hylton

Sounds like great trip and what a good commendation for a great bike. Once I can get my freedom (i.e. retire - 4 years to go!!) I will be planning a few big trips myself and crossing Canada is one on my list of to-do's.

Glad to hear you had a fun (and safe!) trip. I'm sure you saw some beautiful scenery along the way.

I lost a lower fairing bolt too - mine was the one directly in front of my right (brake) toe. Dealer had it - cost me $6.50 (US) for a stinking bolt!

Get those brakes bled really well and you will be amazed at just how sharp they can be. I sure was after I had my mechanic take care of mine while he was doing the recall work on the coolant hose. What a difference!

We'll have to get a recall started, thats the one that I lost too. Must be a defect. ;^)

Count me as lost as well.

One side, right i think, lost the forward lowest fairing bolt - almost immediately. I also noticed those plastic screws in the plastic windshield were working loose.

This seems to be a common problem everywhere. Didn't lose mine but it was hanging by a thread after my first ride of any distance. Went round and tightened up all the fairing bolts and they've been fine since, although a bit of loctite may be advisable.
