I knew about this recall BEFORE I bought my Sprint, so I asked the dealership (Condotta's in Wenatchee - yeah I'll call them out by name) about the hose. They said specifically that it was not an issue with my VIN.

I got the ****ed notice today. Keep in mind the dealership is 220 miles away and the dealer knew this. I don't know if I should get irate with the dealership, or just another in the long list of gripes by fellow Sprint owners about Triumph USA.

So, I get to blow another day at the dealership. Oh well, another excuse to ride I guess.

*mutters to himself*

Mercator,
you guys in th USA definitely seem to be getting the rough end of the pineapple.

I have had a good experience so far, with service and prices, although I did have to barter a bit getting the Pilot Powers at the right price.

I just had my dealer replace my carbon fibre can with the ss race can due to leaking. I will post some new pics when I get a chance.

Exact same thing happened to me this past week. I did as you before I picked up the bike. Then when at this dealer this weekend to pick up a part, they basically confiscated my bike saying they had to do that recall work (hose).

Good news is I got them to lend me the Rocket for an hour.

I cant be mad at the dealer, they have been great to me. I have a feeling that Triumph just phased the work in rather than hitting the dealers with all the vin's at once.

I know how frustrating it is to know more than the dealer does about a recall. But you can't really fault them. Without the notice in hand they may not be reimbursed for the parts and labor.
OK, so the dealer should have known which VIN's were involved and they could have said "wait until you receive a notice from Triumph, then we'll replace the hose". It was dumb for them to say your bike wasn't involved.

Ran into a similar situation with Ford. A recall was sent out about a bad water pump. Took it to the dealer and showed them the notice. They hadn't heard about it yet. I was the first person it bring their vehicle in. It took Ford a month to get all the parts lined up and ready to install.

Merc,
Why don't you ask them to send you the replacement hose and do it yourself? My dealer is 140 miles away. He sent me (at his cost) under warranty repair: a battery, a speedo, a right front turn signal, and a pannier cover. I brought the defective parts back when I had my 6k service done. It's worth a try and may save you a trip, unless you just want to go for the ride, which may not be all bad either. :-D

They wouldnt let me do it. They did let me do my own 600 mile service (sold me the $25 oil filter), and then I had them check my work on the all the inspection bits when I got the panniers put on. They only charged me like $25 for that which is good considering the 600 is usually $149 or so.

I don't mind riding over to the dealership. Its a wide open road with some nice twisties at various points to break it up a bit. I just get edgy when I have 2500 miles on a bad hose. My luck is I'll get 1/2 way between home and the dealer and 'pop.'

You can't get mad at the dealer, but Triumph USA is really not making many friends among 05 Sprint ST owners. I've never had a bit of trouble with my Bonny, that's why I bought the Sprint.
