Just had a very interesting discovery.

The Triump Alarm (Datatool System 3) which is being sold by Triump is not certified for The Netherlands - this means that the ensurance will not cover theft if that Alarm is installed, and no locks are used - 2 class 4 locks in this case.

Datatool alarms are certified here, but just not the one Triump is selling. So either choose a) ensurance will cover theft, or b) Triumph warrenty. I decidied that I rather have coverage from the ensurance, and hope that they don't break anything while they are fitting it :brk:

Casper,
that is a bit weird isn't it? No offence to the Netherlands intended. What reasons if any do they give for this?

My one was given to me and I just had it fitted last week 1 1/4 hours labour.

Casper, things are even worse here in Belgium. The fact that you have an alarm or not doesn't matter in Belgium, you find hardly any insurer that will insure your bike against theft, let alone for a reasonable price.

Dave,

I'm not Dutch, I just live here...

I was in contact with the Triumph Distributer earlier today, and the explanation is that due to the amount of people per 2sq.km. (Randstadt; area within Amsterdam -> Utrect ->Rotterdam -> Den Haug -> Amsterdam), the Dutch Auth. requires a diffrent system for the remotes, they are not allowed to be as strong as in the rest of the world. Another explanation could be the 'red tape' which is quite common here.

But something the dealer forgot to tell me is that the Datatool which Triumph advices to get instead of the Triumph provided one, will arrive with the exact same connectors as the Triump one. So I'm back to my normal self again.

Well thats just my life....

Regards/Casper

Here is was either 2 cat. 4 locks or an alarm. They would accept the Triumph Datatool, but then in case of theft I had to prove that it was installed (no way).

With the amount of bike which are being stolen in The Netherland I'm amazed that I can get full coverage for less than 900 euros per year, but I'm not complaining.

I have KNVM ensurance, which could be the diffrence, also I don't have any car, etc. Also it could be that they actually installed the alarm which is a Datatool, but actually not from Triumph.

I'm glad for you that you did not have to have the same interesting conversations with people as I've had the last 2 days.

Regards/Casper
