Anyone have experience with a 19T countershaft and 45T rear? It sounds good to me: about the same ratio as 18T X 43T but less bend in the chain. I think 110 links should be OK but I'm not sure and don't know if there are any clearance problems.

The gear ratio is close but you have to remember that 1 tooth in the front equals 3 teeth in the rear or real close. So 18/43 would be about the same as 19/46. Also, if you want quicker acceleration at the expense of losing a little top end speed you would remove teeth from the front or add teeth to rear.

I had a 94 FZR600 sport bike with stock 14/45 gearing. I went to a 520 chain and 14/47 gearing. That made the bike little snappier.

18x43 is 2.39 to 1 and 19x45 is 2.37 to 1 so they are very close. I have tried the 18x43 route and it is good but does suck gas. The Daytona crowd seem to love the 18x45 too so I can always drop to 18. I'm looking at wear as well. With 19x45 the bends are less severe and I'm putting on a 530ZVM too. So my theory, which has absolutely no scientific evidence to support it, is that I will have less stretch in the chain and less wear in the teeth using this combo.

The fear of wear, fuel mileage losses and top end loss going to a 18X43 combo, in my and many other's experience is unfounded. It is definitely the easiest and cheapest way to go. This is probably the most done modification of any on the Sprint line and I have never heard of ANY problems running 18X43's.

You are talking about a 500 rpm difference across the board which is nothing to these motors.

The absolute biggest problem with drive train wear and tear is, by far, running the chain too tight, or abusing it.

In my own case, there is no wear on the sprockets or chain. There has not been a chain adjustment needed because the free-play has not changed since going to the 18 after the initial stretch at 500 miles. It has over 11k now. The fuel mileage didn't change. Still a worse at 47 mpg and a high of 57 mpg depending on where I'm at and what I'm doing. No surprises there.
The speedo still registers the same at the rev limiter in top. ( you figure it out) Only due to the added thrust because of the slightly shorter gearing, it gets there quicker.
