Racetech Emulator Options & Tuning

I don't know how many here have emulators on their bikes but I thought I would post up a bit about them and what you can do to tune them. In the first images below is the breakdown of one and the parts that it has in it.

In the following image you will see some parts for the emulators that can be used for tuning. As you can see you have a Blue spring & a Yellow spring, The blue spring being 40 in/lbs & Yellow which is 64 in/lb. Also below that you will see the lo speed bleed discs that go on top of the emulator and the center one is the original and the left one is a new version. The one on the right is a custom disc that I made to obtain more low speed damping. The center one has (1) .125 hole in it and the new version has (2) .125 holes in it.

If anyone has any questions on this feel free to post and I will do my best to answer you.

when tuning these via turns of the screw, whats the common ground for 0 turns. is it spring fully compressed, or fully open?

I am trying (or about to start trying to) tune these things in my 00 st. I have 15/20wt oil in (700ml 15w mixed with 300ml 20w) at about 6" below the internal threads. not sure why I measured this way but it made sense at the time.
only spring I have is yellow, slow speed has 1 hole.

springs are modified, were 12.5" long with 23 coils, now are 10.5" long with 20 active coils.

I weigh 250lbs w/0 gear. I havent ridden this setup yet, but I know I will want to tune it.

0 turns is with no pressure on the spring, Basically back the screw out all the way and when the screw touches the spring then start counting.

Actually at 250 lbs the yellow may work out very well for you.

Install them ride it for a bit and let me know what you would like to change and I will be more than happy to offer suggestions.

Oh I guess I should suggest a oil height before you get ahead of me.

Oil Height = 130mm from top of fork tube with spring out and fork collapsed.

Use a oil that is in the mid 30's cSt @40 deg centigrade using the chart below.

EDIT: I saw your other post regarding finding these in your forks so back the screw off on the emulator and turn them in 2 turns after contact and lock them down.

mid 30's eh? thats a lot lighter than I would have though, for rebound that is. then again it will probably seem a touch slow with the rebound as it is right now with ~17wt.

this winter I will be fully disassembling and cleaning, I'll refill with something more in that range
