idle adjustment?

I have noticed an issue with my bike latley. If i rev it up, it stalls when the rpms come back down. Doesnt always do it, sometimes the rpm come back up, but its idling 800-900ish. Is that too low? Can I bump it up a little bit?

Idle issues are often related to the throttle bodies being out of sync.
Have you ever had this service done to your bike? How many miles on the bike?

If it were me, I'd first make certain my throttle cables were adjusted to spec.

Your idle is controlled by the ECM instructing the IAC stepper. The stepper position determines the bleed air at idle. You will need a TuneBoy to adjust it.

But, most of the time it is just a problem with IAC hose integrity allowing false air into the system, or a dirty IAC.

Take a look at RedSkeeter's post and his results.

Throttle body balance is a factor but most bikes will run with a wide variation. In fact, many, many bikes never have it done.

OnD is spot on. My issue was EXACTLY the same as you describe and after I cleaned the IAC it was gone. Idle was a lot smoother as well. I think my throttle bodies are still out of sync as it will surge lightly at 4500 RPM or so.

I was at the dealer today and they want $130 to sync the throttle bodies and load a tune so I'm going to save $80 and give it a go myself. Shouldn't be to difficult to do following all the great posts on here as how to do it. I just need to get motivated to build the tool.

I think I'll head that way to show off my baby and get the tune loaded to the tune of $50 just to be sure its been done.

Easy to pull the IAC though, took about 10 mins of wrench time to get to it, 5 mins to clean and 15 to get back together, but only cause I mixed up the hoses and forgot to put the harness back on the fuel pump. Doh!!

Pulled the valve and cleaned it up. Seems to have fixed the problem. I turned the bike over with the tank off to make sure the valve was working, and it did. I then put the bike back together and it threw a code. So i pulled it back apart made sure i didnt miss any sensors, re assembled and still had a code. Was running fine, Went and put fuel in the bike, and the orange light of doom was gone.

Good to hear you fixed it. The code was probably a connector that was forgotten so no worries
