Over on the Triumphnet site there are some pics of a modification to the side fairings to let some of the heat out, or more fresh air into the engine area. Has anyone done this mod...does it help? My only complaint about my bike is the heat generated while setting @ a red light or in slow traffic. Since we have a whole lot more hot weather than cool here in Texas, I'd like to correct this situation if possible. This is my first bike w/ a full fairing & I think it's the best I've had...just want to cool it down some.

I've noticed that the Sprint is a lot toastier than the XX is and I thought it was hot. Not sure that I'd want to cut up the fairing though.

I used the round hollow foam used to insulate copper water pipes found at the local hardware store. The tubing is pre-cut on one side. I cut to length desired and placed it on the fairing between the frame and top edge of the fairing. It now channels the Dragon breath out the bottom of the fairing. At low speeds you can feel the escaping heat at your feet. It is a cheap easy on easy off fix. The tubing I found was a charcoal color so it somewhat blends with the frame. Come on Fall weather!!

The method used by elTigre sounds like a good option...cheap too. I really don't want to go cutting on the plastic...I'd just like to BE cool while LOOKING cool.
Since I started riding this bike most of my friends, who are mostly H-D types, have nothing but compliments. There's not a lot of sport tourers in this neck of the woods and I get a lot of looks.
Planning on my yearly trek to Wyoming in a couple of weeks...the radiated heat may come in handy up @ the Beartooth Pass into Red Lodge, Mt. Last year's trip on a Speedmaster was a little chilly.

The good thing about the insulated tubing is that it will come right off and fit into your panniers or soft luggage.

This sounds really interesting. I just ordered an 06 Sprint ST w/ABS and noticed the heat during the 125 mi demo ride...

but I'm a bit vague as to where you actually put the insulation. Any chance of posting a picture?

Thanks

El tigre I'm also very interested in your inexpensive mod as I'm down here in FL & the heat is becoming unbearable . IMO this would be a desirable solution to my problem . I 2nd the motion on those pics...
