Hand guards

I would like to know if anyone has ever put hand guards on a 1999-2004 sprint ST?

If not, does anyone know if there is a pair that will fit with little to no modifications?

The trick with the early '90s bikes was to use the guards and bolts from a Tiger of the same era. That ceased to work when the Tigers still had hydraulics on both levers and the Sprints had cable clutches, but I wonder if it hasn't come 'round to working again...

FWIW, I had PowerMadd handguards on my Trident. I'm sure they would work on the Sprint as well, but I would have gone the Tiger route on the Trident if I had it to do over again.

Cheers,
-Kit

Cut a liter pop bottle to the shape you want and attach with hose clamps.

Hey Kit,

The Tiger 1050 guards will mount up to a Sprint 1050, but steering lock is reduced so much that riding the bike would be suicide.

I'll post pics if I ever get mine to work satisfactorily. My intent was for the guards to provide some wind protection for my hands in cold weather. At this point the guards may end up being a write-off (I've removed a lot of material, but clearance is still not adequate; I need a more precise tool at this point), but I'm still hoping that I can make them work.

Hippo Hands if you are looking for something to keep your paws warm. They show Sprint not available but they also list a version with the Daytona with Sprint in the name. Should be the same. I had these on a different bike and they work great plus you can remove them for summer riding.

My bike seems to have an affinity for buell parts. The headlight, cowl, footpegs, and yes, hand guards

They arent as large as the Tiger, Vstom, etc guards but look nice and mount to the pivots for the clutch / brake levers which makes for a nice clean installation. A lot of the other styles out there rely on exposed handlebar surface in-board of the master cylinder. Therefore not possible with our bikes in stock configuration.

Regarding performance, they take the windblast off the hands quite well. Keep in mind my Sprint is naked, so the effect wont be as noticable with a full fairing bike.

I don't have any specific photos of the setup, but here's a few cropped images from a week or 2 ago.

If you want a set, look here for details:

Hmm strange. In the 'post - editor' I attempted to re-upload the pics, but they don't show up for me. Also, I had similar photos with the guards at:
http://www.triumphrat.net/sprint-for...otorcycle.html

But they're not showing up today. Have I exceeded an attachment limit maybe?

I'll try to upload another one here.

Dave,

I looked at a few other unrelated threads. Seems like other uploaded pictures are no longer displaying. Would you be able to check with the wizard behind the curtains on this one?
