Recall Woes

So I'm on my way to the dealer (1.5 hours away) to get my drag link replaced. My buddy is behind me on his Ducati Streetfighter. He had just got done telling me how his fuel line had popped off right after he bought the bike. Well, it happened again. We were about 30 minutes from the dealer when it happened. He called a wrecker service, and I went on to the dealer to keep my 10:00 am appointment. They get my bike up on the lift, and after taking the old drag link off, I hear the mechanic tell the service manager, "can you come here a minute, we have a problem." I had a sinking feeling. The service manager tells me to come out to look at the bike. The mechanic explains that the thing the drag link bolts to (the V shaped thing) had been bent/pinched, and the new drag link would not fit. He says there were washers missing from the factory or that when the last dealer did the drag link bolt recall, they didn't put the washers in like they were supposed to. So, I had to call my girl to make the 1.5 hour trip to pick me up. They are going to get with Triumph to explain the problem, and order a new linkage. Bummer. And I thought I was going to be in and out in 40 minutes like the letter said. Who knows when I'll be back on 2 wheels again. Hope this doesn't happen to anyone else!

What a bummer. It is a pity that there are idiots out there that profess to know the right end of a spanner from the other!! Hope it works out for you.
