RAM mounts

RAM now has in stock and available for shipping a 1" ball mount with a M8 bolt (actually they include three bolts of various lengths in the kit) so we ST riders can replace one of the bolts mounting the handlebars to the triple tree with a ball mount for a GPS or radar detector, etc. I ordered a RAM-B-367U directly from RAM about three weeks ago, and got an email saying they were not in stock and expected to ship in December, but the kit arrived yesterday. I'll mount up a waterproof box on a 3" arm for my GPS this weekend.

I have no affiliation with RAM, just a customer. I couldn't justify the expense of the Telferizer ball mount, so I waited for the RAM mount to be available (approx. $11 US each, plus shipping, if I remember correctly)

Ram Mount

I also ordered the same mount. It has been back ordered for a couple weeks, but is shipping now. Looks like a clean way to mount my 450 Zumo. Now if Tyco will send the two sample pins for the GPS plug I will be very happy. If not I will cut the GPS plug off and wire my lead to the Zumo with my own connectors. My Triumph dealer wanted a fortune for a lead from that GPS plug.

I ordered mine July 31st and gave up about a week ago. I have no confidence left in RAM being able to do anything at all in anything like a reasonable time frame.

On the other end of the scale, Adaptiv had the part I needed (despite its not being listed) in the mail to me the day I ordered it.

Cheers,
-Kit

I got my mount from Bob Telfer, he is a great guy, very helpful. Try him if you need any sat nav mounts. Mine arrived before I paid for it.

Here is a picture of my home made one for my Tom Tom Rider. I had a Ram Mount from the previous bike which couldent be fitted anywhere I liked without blocking some clock. This prototype made from nylon (the only colour I happened to have available) utilises the Ram ball on the back of the tom Tom mounting and works a treat.
Here are a few pics if anyone is interested.

I've had very good luck ordering RAM parts from gpscity.com

My past 2 orders were shipped out the same day I submitted them -- there was no multi-day lag prior to the shipper receiving the package -- and I had them within a few days.

In fact, I just ordered this RAM mount after reading the posting and checking out the part description at ram-mount.com. I haven't seen the Telferizer up close, but I assume you need a crow's foot wrench attachment and then have to calculate the appropriate wrench torque value for the bolt.

I just got my Ram mount (RAM-B-367U) 2 days ago. They worked great. I used a spacer to clear the clutch cable. I wanted it in the forward allen mount point for a better view. The right side fit very well also. I did have to wait 2 weeks for them to ship.
