Not time to stop riding yet!
It was a nice day here in Connecticut, after three days of rain and wind. Sixty five degrees, dry roads by late morning- a good time for exploring some back roads in the north east "quiet corner".. The ST is good therapy!!

I couldn't agree more. The ST is great therapy. I need to get me some nice winter gear so I can continue to ride now that it's cold out. I refuse to let anything but soggy weather keep me from my sickle!

Visiting from the S3 forum.
Two well-worn phrases: There is no inappropriate weather; only inappropriate gear (though the guy who coined that probably didn't live in CT). Secondly, damn I'm drunk from a day of football and can't recall the second one. At any rate, I like riding in the cold because those waves we riders give each other really mean something. "Hey, that guy's is missing the same marbles I am!"
On the occasions that it dips to the teens or so in the American South, I've had guys turn around and signal me to a bar just to buy me an Irish coffee. Some of my favorite motorcyclists were strangers until we were both so farking cold that an Irish coffee seemed in order.

It was a "warm" 62 here in Portland, Maine today. I'll be riding up until the snow flies. Then, I'll just have to wait until the roads are clear enough to ride again.

Well, I admit that weather wise, it was an interesting day. Started out crappy in Guilford but the farther North and East you went the better the day got. Ended up riding out to Marlborugh and "Willy" Town with some friends from ctriders.org.
Was really relxaing comming back home on routes 207, 16, 149, 154, 148, 145 to I95(way too much traffic on Rt 80) and home to Guilford.
+1 on the ST being great Therapy.
It would be nice to see some other triumphs out on the road besides me and "Old Blue".

RT 198, from Chaplin and running north for 25 miles is a very nice road to take advantage of the ST's handling and power- fast sweeping corners (that you can now see through what with the leaves off the trees), nice straights with pretty vistas and a series of great twisties that parallel the Natchaug State Forest. Running this road is always a pleasure, as you can usually ride at whatever pace you're comfortable with. I had already taken it north to south, stopped for a few photos, and then turned back to do the south to north loop, and ran smack into a rolling chicane- three HD riders loping along at 40 mph, holding up a farm truck and an SUV in front of me. Their pace and spacing left no opportunity for a pass, as the road is double yellow for a long way, and the guy in the truck was already up their chuff in frustration. The SUV and pickup finally bailed at an intersection, and I waited behind the HD roadblock until we came to a stop sign. I know they were aware of my presence- yet they offered no easy way around them, pulling up three wide at the intersection, and I finally had to blow by them as they meandered away from the intersection, winding out in first gear to 27 mph with the straight pipes blasting away for my benefit...best view of the day was them rapidly shrinking in my mirrors...

Ahhh, yes! the rolling Harley Road Block.
I've had that happen multiple times comming back from the Bean and getting stuck behind them on 207 or 149. I really don't like doing a double yellow pass but sometimes you just have to.
I just don't understand the mind set these people have about not
letting faster traffic bye.

Just went on my first chilly weather ride in 30 years (35-45 degrees). I had Fall gloves with Thinsulate, but it was the grip heaters that saved my fingers. What a wonderful invention!

I hear what you guys are saying. I left here at 9:00 and it was 60 degrees out yesterday, unfortunately the Sprint needs new shoes so it had to stay home. Took the TT instead. Spent almost 8 hours riding with only one stop other than fuel. Ended up putting a little over 300 miles on it, and only 20 miles were interstate the rest were all back roads. That was a fun day!
