Scala Rider Q2 Multiset

I have not order mine yet, but I have several friends with the Q2 Multi-set. It allows both rider and passenger to have full functional headsets with FM radio and I believe two bluetooth connections (bike to bike or bike to phone, etc). They like it and I usually can't tell if they are going down the road when I give them a call.

I havnt tried the scala rider but I just installed a Starcom1 on my 09 sprint and also on my wife's bike, after a lot of research I found this was the best system for what I wanted and has every feature possible. Check out this website this guy is in Aus but the product is from the UK

My passenger and I used the Cardo Scala Rider Teamset for about three years. (obviously version 1)... It worked well once we figured out all the tricks. (possibly the most obscure set of written instructions ever)

I liked the total convenience of it. No wires, intercom worked as advertised- especially if you can teach your passenger to keep her microphone out of the wind stream. Battery life was phenomenal. Never actually used it long enough to get low battery- and this includes several 4 day trips.

Customer service was excellent. Price was right. Interface with Zumo 550 was nearly instant. Telephone and Navigation prompts somehow even more clear than Intercom.

I went to full Autocomm system so I could add Bike to bike commo, but the Teamset served us well for the period.

For the price- well worth it.

Hi.

Me and my girlfriend also have Scala riders, altough not the teamset.

I think the only difference between buying it as a teamset is the cheaper price than buying both separately AND the fact that its been paired at the Cie.

Since we both have bikes, we were able to test it thorougly during our two week motorcycle trip this summer and I have to say it is almost flawless. I was able to switch from gps instructions to chatting, to listening to mp3's coming from my Ipod (plugged directly into the Scala). Also my Garmin 550 was connected via bluetooth to my gps unit so I could deal with cell phone call through the Garmin interface and communicate with the Scala.

Great kit, will work further than a mile distance on highway, and 3-4 curves away in the mountains of the Cherohala and the Blue Ridge Parkway dense woods.

Battery life, well, if you have a fiancé like mine that likes to chat for hours and hours at a time.... I will last about 8hours of riding

Only gripe ? Sound quality is not the best for music listening, mind you, you do NOT want to listen to super loud music (has to go OVER the wind/engine noise) because we'd be going deaf within 4-5 years anyways.

Surprised to hear some of this feedback. I bought a Scala Teamset for my 2008 trip with Beck (my Daughter) on pillion and was not very impressed. It performed well up to 55 or 60mph then became a real irritation. It constantly picked up wind noise (I had Schuberth C2 and Beck had Caberg Trip) and therefore stayed active, leaving me listening to a constant hiss, until I manually switched it off. Over the 2 weeks we tried all the possible positions for the boom mike (Cardo sent me longer booms FOC as the originals don't fit a flip front helmet), but just couldn't find a position that worked as it should.
I will say, it was good in cities, where Beck was feeding me directions, but out on the open, it was next to useless.
Battery life was excellent.

I use the Blueant job, seems to work fine and do the trick.

My wife and I used the team rider for almost 2 years without a hitch. We both wear full-face helmets and the bike was a BMW RT. The audio quality is clear while using the phone function. We haven't tried the scala rider since I traded for the ST, so I'm not sure how it reacts with a bit less wind protection.

I have the Scala Q2 and have used it both for intercom and phone for almost 2 years. I find that it works very well on my Sprint with a selection of AGV, Arai and Caberg full-face helmets. Sound quality is good and voice activation is very effective. As mentioned previously, you can get constant tripping of the VOX with a race-style helmet, especially in a crosswind. Note: accurate placement of the speakers directly opposite or slightly ahead of the ears is essential to have adequate volume when wearing ear plugs.

I have noted the following problem: I have a Ducati 999s with the full 54 mm Termignoni race exhaust and race ECU. Using the Q2 on this bike at any speed over 70 mph, turning my head to the left causes the headset to switch to telephone. This is apparently caused by the tonal quality of the, admittedly loud, exhaust pipes. This happens with multiple helmets (i.e. not an artifact of a specific helmet). On my Sprint with the TOR, the Q2 works flawlessly.
