Maybe it's just me, but part of the reason I bought a water-cooled motor was because it regulated its temperature better than an air-cooled motor (at one time I was considering a multistrada).
I've been in stop and go traffic during my commutes more times than I want to admit, and although my Sprint ST gets hot, it doesn't overheat and it keeps running.
If someone wants to keep the temperature at a certain level, about the only thing one could probably do is change the sensor/computer or whatever reads the temperature of the engine and triggers the switch that turns the fan on.
Personally, I think Triumph designed these bikes to handle the hot temps that occur when bike idles a lot in stop and go traffic. I would sure hope they did some sort of stress test on these motors. Otherwise, I think I'd seen some postings about some motors getting toasted due to the heat.
FWIW
