I am having a real problem trying to find a suitable location for my Autocom and Kenwood radio.

Obviously there is no room around the seat area.

The next obvious is around the front fairings. Has anybody investigated the best location for this type of device?

TIA...

There is actually quite a bit of room on top of the coolant bottle on the left side of the bike near the forks. I installed a fuse box and groud block in that area to power my heated grips, vest and soon my XM and an intercom.

Locating my Starcom intercom & radio has been taxing my brain recently, but an earlier thread on this forum had a url for Autocom's website which gives their instructions for installing their intercom on a 2005 Sprint, complete with photos, using the fairing storage box.
I'm likely to be using my kenwood radio in a jacket pocket initially, but if some one comes up with a secure permanent place to hide it on the bike, I'd love to hear.

Good luck

I mounted my StarCom 1 in the glove box that was the only place that I could find. Even with the heat shield the temp under the seat is very high, and I didn't like the idea of cutting out the seat pan under the pillion, I might want to give someone a lift.

I'm still looking too :???:

Yes, I posted the link and today I finished the install myself. I had to get two more extension leads for the pillion and my lead is on the RHS of the tank, just under the baglux harness strap. Also had to extend the positive feed back to the lighting loom as described by Autocom.

Hi, I Might be able to help you with the Starcom1 Installation. I fitted one on my '04 Sprint, and the Local Triumph Dealers were so impressed that I now get to do all sorts of bikes, including 2 '05 Sprints!

After much searching, the best place we found was behind the instrument binnacle. Remove the screen by undoing the 2 plastic screws, and sliding the screen back. Then undo the 4 hex bolts and remove the access panel, and hey presto.

Whatever you do, don't install it on the top of the light cluster, it gets VERY hot

I velcro and tie it to the back of the instrument binnacle.

I do the install privately as well, if you are local and interested. It takes about 4-5 hours for the full kit...
Rider/pillion with bulkhead Connectors in a hand made bracket
Phone, stereo and Bikie to bike lead routed to storage cubby.
Press To Talk button on left grip
Satnav cable

The Harness is fully clipped every 3" and is routed out of sight, except for the run along the frame behind the forks. It has to take this route as the power lead only just reaches the nose.

I charge £100 to fit, but am just about finished producing installation guides for Starcom1 to put on their website.

There's a storage cubby? On a 04? Where?

(prepares to look a fool)

No, I was describing the 'o5 install.

On my '04, I have the phone and stereo cables coiled alongside the battery, with the connectors poking up by the tank. That way I can connect them to the devices in my pocket, or in the tankbag map pocket.

The Bike to Buke radio sites alongside the unit under the seat :-D

the faring storage box gets BRUTALLY hot on the 05. It is hard to believe anything but the most basic electronics are happy there. Go for a ride in traffic on a hot day for an hour then take out the tool kit - you can't even hold the tools..
