Just picked up my second used Sprint. Wrecked my 01, and moved onto a 00. My only complaint with either bike is (for me anyway) a slightly cramped leg position.

Is there anyone that sells lower footpegs? I'm thinking even a small change will make a big comfort difference. I know I'll lose a bit of ground clearance, but I can live with that.

Taking the rubber off the pegs will provide a little extra, not much, but something.

I've contacted several fabricators and dealers searching for a pair of rear sets with a more "relaxed" position, ideally 1-2" lower and 1-2" forward. Alas, nobody makes such a replacement part. You can find "racier" rear sets that raise the pegs but I couldn't find any that lower them.

I've stated before on this board that it surprises me that manufacturers don't realize that bikes with non-adjustable seating positions limit the number of buyers.

Why doesn't Triumph, et al, wise up and offer bikes with at least two (2) riding positions, one for sport and one for touring. I think it would broaden their market.

Have you ever wondered why so many "over 50" types, like myself, are buying cruisers? It's because those are the only bikes they can sit on for more than an hour with their less flexible knees, IMHO.

I can't ride a cruiser bike and don't find the feet forward position at all comfortable. An appox. 50 g. load impact on my shoulders took care of my spine and I can't take the pounding through my back that a feet forward position supporting your weight on your butt provides. So, I'm at the other end of the spectrum.

It probably would be cheaper to find an upholstery shop around to modify you seat.

As to why the manufacturers don't put on adjustable pegs. Cost. How much do you want to spend to be able to get that added 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch?

Adjustable seat? How you going to do that? Try taking a towel and folding it up and sit on that and see if that helps. Try different thicknesses. Or a sheep skin.

Next door to my dealer is an upholstery shop run by Biker Bill. He did some adjustments for me. Different padding, a little sculpting, new cover, etc. In and out in less than a day. It cost me $75.00. And, he will adjust it further if I need it.

These are bikes, be creative.

I know some Hayabusa riders have fitted Buell footpegs which lower the footpegs 1/2 to 1". The Buell footpegs are also not too expensive. Less than ~50 a set.

I think one Sprint member on this board may have also tried this, but removed them. When you lower the footpegs you only have a some available adjustment for the rear brake and gear shift levers. I think the other member didn't like the angle.

If you do a google search, I think you'll find articles on other forums.

My knees have endured lots of abuse.
I've been looking at how the sprint is built. It wouldn't be too hard to lower them. The pegs and shift lever/brake lever are bolted to a bracket that uses two 8mm bolts to hold it to the frame.
A flat plate of aluminum could be bolted to the frame. The peg bracket could be bolted to this plate slightly lower than stock. The only tricky part of making this would be the fact that the frame's side isn't flat.
I've got a week off coming up. I might have to see what I can do.

There are some adapters available for Ducati (Monsters) that seem pretty simple...just a couple of off-set brackets...something like that might be the ticket
