How may 05 Sprint STs are there in the US? I was looking at the recall information and only about 500 to 600 bikes were affected, so I was wondering how may were sold in the US?

I asked about that at Condotta's and they hadn't heard about it. They ran my VIN in the computer (no idea what site) and it said no outstanding issues. I am hoping mine isnt one of the 969.

I am wondering since it is like 5 models and only 969 bikes total, that it was the earliest delivered '05 models, say those delivered in late 04 and early 05... I know we're only talking like 1500 or so Sprint ST's in the US, but they mention most of the sport touring line in that recall, and such a small number of bikes...

Here's hoping!

The link should take you to a PDF of the Defect report from the NHTSA website.

Safety Defect and Noncompliance Report

Show VIN ranges 221423 thru 234915 for 05 Sprints mfd from Nov 04 thru Apr 05.

For Sprint ABSs, shows 234917 thru 239096. Nov 04 thru May 05 mfd dates.

Other models are shown as well. Blames the problem on a supplier. Company has switched suppliers.

Says it affects 516 Sprint STs and 2(!) ABSs.

On April 23rd the small hose coming from the expansion tank ruptured on my 1 month old ST.Luckily this happened in my garage. It took 6 weeks for my rude and incompetent dealer to fix.Triumph did write to me saying they were changing supplier, but made no mention of this potential problem.Nor did they mention any possible recall. My oil pressure switch also had to be replaced after the oil pressure light kept coming on.
