I have just fitted the pannier rails to my 01 Sprint but I think that I may have mounted them slightly "incorrectly". The panniers are hard to slide on and off, it's hard to get the pannier "over" the rails and the recesses (on the pannier) for the indicators and the indicators themselves don't' quite line up such that the indicators have to flex. By co-incidence I ended up at the lights yesterday behind another ST with panniers fitted and his seemed to sit a few inches lower. I think it may be down to the fitting and orientation of the replacement indicator brackets. I can't see how else they can be fitted or aligned, but that is where you lot come in.. Admittedly I did muddle up the left and right ones for a while (I detached them both from the rails before fitting and forgot which was which and it is one of the only phases that doesn't carry a picture in the instructions). As such I was going to ask if anyone out there would be kind enough to post a picture or two of their rails so that I can compare and contrast. I have posted images of my rails for you to see. If anyone spots anything obvious please do let me know..

are those the factory turnsignal brackets?
The ones that come with the kit?

they look like they are bolted flat to the fender instead of coming out a little ways.

I'll see if I can snap a pic of mine later.

I've just fitted mine in the past week, so I can offer some input here. Item 1 is where the turn signals that are included in the mounting kit go. They will bolt onto the hole at the end of the bracket.

It sound from your problems, that the mounting bracket, longer one goes on the left side....slide under the bracket under the tail. You'll have to pry the ***** out it, I did. If you didn't the mounting bracket that the rail bolts onto won't sit right and you'll end up with the problem that you have. (at least I think that you will)

Firstly, thanks for the replies... They are the brackets and the indicators for the kit. I followed the instructions as in the diagram show but basically I think the rails are riding too high. I did use a screwdriver to prize apart the sub-frame mount and the strenghteneing bracket to position the pannier rail bracket (as far as I remember i seated the pannier rail brackets between the sub-frame mount and thestrenghteneing bracket). I have got the pannier rails brackets on the correct side (the lock is still located on the L side of the bike).. At the time I thought the problem was more to do with the small metal lug on the indicator bracket that passes through the small hole in the fender and then through the strenghteneing bracket (on the diagram above it is shown just above the hole for the M8 bolt that fixes the indicator bracket to the mudguard/fender). Things were aligned in such a way as to angle the indicator bracket too far up. I considered drilling a new hole for it but decided against it. Without this small lug it may be possible to rotate the indicator bracket downward, lowering the rails and possibly solving the problem.. In the end, as a temporay bodge and slightly bent the brackets out a touch because where they were sitting (to be out of the ay of the pannier when fitted) meant that the bracket was coming up against the bottom of the plastic body work.

Can I ask what you meant when you said that the brackets should be out from the fender a little? Angled out from the fixing point?

I though you were asking to see my rear for a second but luckily I have just taken some more photos of the various parts in question and will post them in a short while..
