Sprint ST Geneology (sp?)

Is there a FAQ or message thread or file or something that documents the evolutionary changes of the Sprint ST?

I'm in the market for a used one and I need the education....

A pointer would be great if such a resource exists.

I think the FI 955's started in 1999. In 2002 a major upgrade in engine took place. 2005, New bike. 2003 bike was included with heated grips and panniers.

If you're going for a used bike, personally, I would look at 2002 or newer with a target of 2003 or newer, and wouldn't look at older.

Age, miles, corrosion and updated stuff are my reasons.

'03 did come with panniers but late in the year. as far as heated grips that was still an option...

Hermys Tire & Cycle in Port Clinton, PA has pages with the standard info/options for each year.

For the Sprint ST: 2005, 2004, 2003, 2002, 2001, 2000, 1999.

For the Sprint RS: 2003, 2002, 2001, 2000.

I will be limiting my search to '02 or newer. What is considered excessive mileage on this bike. I wouldn't stay away from a 50K BMW, does that hold true for the Sprints?

I bought my 2000 last year with 16,000 miles and have had no issues with it. In 7,000 miles I have changed oil, brake pads and tires, that's it.
