First post too, if you don't count me posting this in the wrong forum :brk: . I've just bought a new ST, red with ABS.

I'm still running in the engine just yet, one or two things have struck me.

I ordered the red sight unseen, it's not the Daytona red which I expected, more of a burgundy, but I'll get used to it.
No underseat storage for waterproofs, even for Intercom unit, so the cubby hole will need to accomodate that and probably some part of the GPS wiring too.
How big are peoples' hands!? I've got both levers on minimum span and the clutch ( which is too heavily sprung in my opinion) is a real pain in the...hand.
I do not like the centre stand, it feels as though the slightest touch would push it off the stand.
The dedicated Datatool series 3 alarm is too fussy compared with a series 4 or the Meta I had on my previous bike.
Why no switch to turn off the lights?

I'm sure I'll get used to all these minor irritations I'm going to the Cotswolds for the weekend, for those of you that know it, you'll be envious I'm sure

RedMick,
welcome to a great site. What was your previous ride?

Cheers,
Davem

Mick,
I have also ordered the abs model and should be with me in under 2 weeks.
I didnt 'gamble' on the red colour as i had not seen one for real in the flesh( still havent yet!), it was bad enough choosing between blue or silver. i went for silver on the toss of a coin as nearly all my bikes have been blue and i think it was time for a change.

After a few rest rides i got used to the large span on the levers, but i have big hands anyway......

The lights dont have switches anymore, this is on all 2003+ model bikes( all makes not just triumph) to do with EU approval. ( bloody volvos started it !).

As for underseat storage well that was obvious from the start with that delightfull triple exit exhaust.

The stowage pocket is small but i normally wear a bum bag to carry my ***** around, that lock doesnt look secure and im sure any old key will open it.

I agree with the datatool alarm, i asked for the S4 model but to be told 'no' triumph dont approve that one as the S3 has a direct connecting loom to the fuse box that doesnt require cutting the bikes loom so we will only fit the S3.
More like datatool have done a bulk deal on the old s3 to shift them? or maybe the installation is simple despite the cost of £269 supply & fit.

Main stand i havent tried, but i think its only there for aiding servicing / cleaning and when you put your luggage kit on etc.... if they didnt fit one everyone would moan. Side stand is enough for most everyday use i would think.

A question though, is there need for a hugger? i have read somewhere the ABS model has an extra panel or something near the back shock to cover the abs gismo, apparently it may stop rear shock damage too...... or am i misinformed?

Cheers

My abs does have a small guard, more to protect the ABS sensor (?) I'm told that NWS and Skidmarx are producing/about to produce one.
