Okay guys, I have the stock screen and it works good for me at least for wind protection but I find myself wishing the handle bars weren't so low, looked at risers only because their cheaper. The question is if I installed the more expensive helibars (about 600 $ in Canada) would I need to buy a different screen because the helibars would raise my body up too high for the screen to be effective? :???:

You would need a new windscreen if you wanted the same level of protection. Helibars will move your head 3-6" higher than stock bars.

Boxsky - I'm saving to buy some Helibars for my '03 ST.

How much rise and pullback over stock bars will Helibars provide (without replacing any lines, wires, or cables)?

Thanks!
Mike.

In measuring my adjustments prior to new brake/clutch lines, I was able to get the bars in the following position:
Measuring from the top of the fork clamp bracket the top of the bars is almost 5" higher. Measuring from the center of the preload screw, the centerline of the bars is approx. 3" back. Hope this helps.

Buy them and don't look back. It sounds like the other guys took a little more care in understanding the changes than I did. But, I rate this change right up there with a new saddle as an absolute must for the ST. If you don't have an aftermarket pipe on your bike that is the next big purchase that transforms the ST.

Now if only Triumph would pay attention to this wish list for the future ST.

Enjoy

Hey Fishtale,
Absolutely dead on about Triumph paying attention to the market place. It would seem simple logic for a manufacturer to survey the actual owners of their products during the life cycle of the model and monitor the most common after market options selected for their bikes and regulary incorporate changes into the CURRENT design. Triumph should take a lesson from Yamaha, who EACH YEAR has modified the FJR1300 to address press and public complaints about shortcomings. Triumph cannot be like Harley Davidson and expect sales to be strong for 6 year old platforms that are largely unchanged. Hopefully they get the hint so that we can all enjoy new Triumph models for decades to come.

Thanks for the info, off to phoenix next week for some warmth and will have a look around for some, like to have a close look at one on a bike before I plunk down my hard earned money. I'm afraid it will ruin the look of the bike, besides, I can still ride longer and farther in more comfort than my husband can on his t-bird. We also have to stop because he's on reserve!!!!!
