Put 1,200 miles on my 02 ST this passed Saturday to complete a saddlesore 1,000 for the IBA as part of the Motorcycle Tourer Forum national SS1000 day. Covered 6 states in the mid-west - all interstate - blah blah blah.

The setup I have is 21" Cee Baileys windscreen (because wind sux and i don't care to deal with it), Throttlemeister throttle lock, givi top case, triumph panniers, and stock seat/handle bars. I may have to look into the heli bars or risers if I ever plan to ride this far again to lessen the wrist/hand pain - I couldn't even open a jar of peanut butter the day after the ride. Otherwise all was great! The bike performed flawlessly - I am very happy with my sprint, wouldn't trade it for any other!

Just one post of praise for the sprint . . .

Mate!
that is a seriously long ride. No wonder you couldn't handle the peanut butter jar!

The ST is a cool machine! I have a set of Triumph risers but havent put them on yet. I have the gel seat some don't like it but I'm very happy with mine.

Cheers,
DaveM

Congrats on your SS1k. I did an unofficial one in '03 coming back from Taos, NM. I hate the paperwork so I'll probably never get an official one :lollol: I was pretty worn out too, but mainly because I did it straight through, no real stops beyond fuel, and meal stops.

I'm running a Sargent refoamed seat, Triumph heated grips, Throttlemeister, OEM hardbags, Daytona 1 piece shifter, and I should have been using the Zero Gravity Sport Touring shield. I find the bars are perfect for me. But I learned a long time ago to support the body with your torso muscles and not lean on the hands for support. I'm betting that's what your doing. Try and lighten up on the bars a bit and some of that pain might go away. 54k miles on my '02 and I still love to ride it. (another gratuitous praise post )

Likewise, I'm very happy with my '01 Sprint. I just rode it from Northern VA to Columbus, Ohio and back. Just over 800 miles in about a 34 hour timespan. It performed flawlessly. Low mpg was 50, high was 63!! average was 54 with a trumpet CF pipe, and trumpet FI map. Almost all my riding was on slabs. The only comfort additions were a corbin seat and a zg double bubble. I was a little sore, but still could have racked up some more miles.
