Well had a really nice trip to Hocking Hills in south central Ohio right up until I got into some gravel and laid my new 05 ST down. I kept it up for what seemed like an eternity but then the front tire decided not to stay vertical any longer.

Left side and upper fairing are toast. Front fender and left mirror have a few scratches but I can live with those. Everything else is fine.

All in all my gear did a great job of protecting my body. The only piece that didnt do a very good job were my Tourmaster ballistic nylon pants. Of course they were hanging in my closet at home so my Levis did absolutely nothing to protect my knee which got gouged to hell. But it will heal. This little episode did nothing to cure my unhealthy fear of gravel.

Now for the hard part, where the heck am I going to find fairings for an 05 Sprint?

Sorry to here about the spill. Loose gravel sucks! I just talked to my buddy who just got back from Americade. On Wednesday morning, he hit a deer going about 80 mph on his 2002 BMW R1150R. For all practical purposes, the deer was torn in half. Only a little piece of the spine was keeping the two pieces together. My friend was okay thankfully. He was wearing an Aerostitch Roadcrafter two piece and has only a slightly sprained wrist and a couple of hot spots from sliding on the pavement. The bike was balled up pretty bad. They patched it up and put a set of Yamaha handlebars on it and he road it home to Virginia.

Be careful out there,

Craig

Good to hear that you are ok and in one piece.

Gravel, :hammer: suck$. I went down in the Ardennes (Belgium) on gravel. In a corner, leftover from road works. You would think that they would clean that up?! "Naaa, just let the cars ride over it, they will propel it away".

Typical Belgian problem, little gravel, preferably just after the corner...

Heal well and quick.

how about some pics?

Sorry to hear it, glad your ok.
my biggest worry about haveing a faired bike is slifding in gravel.

At least you walked away from it in one piece. Your 05 will recover too when you get the parts.

Gravel is one of the worst things after diesel and in the area where I live it is a nightmare after any rain. Washdowns from farm roads being the worse kind as one day they are not there and the next they are.

Ride safe.

Hey Airsick - are you located in Central Ohio ? We have a new Rat Pack in the Columbus area. Have about a dozen members on the roster now, more are welcome. Plus, we don't have any members with the new 1050 Sprint. e-mail me at ama_race_fan@yahoo.com if you want to receive mailings from the new Pack.

Hey Airsick!

You could always try Hinds for those new fairings!

:kck: Sorry -- I couldn't resist!

Glad to hear most of your personal bits are still in good condition.

Dave
