Lower Footpeg
05 Sprint 1050 ST, Rider 6'-1" 36" inseam. I've had my ST for a few years now and I find myself riding further and further. After about 350 miles I start to feel a little crampt on the ST. I've seen past posting on lowering the footpegs (Most dated before '06). Some prefer rising the saddle height instead and others have suggested using a Buel footpeg. There are plus' and minus' for each option. If you adjust the saddle hieght you'll have to lean over more to reach the handle bars however you'll keep your ground clearance. If you lower the footpegs your legs will be striaghter however you'll lose ground clearance. I'm not a real aggressive rider and I've never touch the footpeg in three years, so I'm not concerned with ground clearance. If anyone has any experence with this I have a few questions.
1. Has anyone installed the Buel footpeg on an '05 Sprint ST?
2. Is there a better option than the buel footpegs?
3. Has anyone found a good method of rising the saddle (Sargents is way to expense)?
4. I've seen rearset for the Triple but not the Sprint. Is there a Sprint version?
5. Will any of the available rearsets allow you to lower the pegs or do they just move them back and up for better racing position?
Sorry for the long post but I'd appericate your input. This forum has always been good source of information.

WardenRoss recently posted excellent instructions on his foot peg lowering kit. The kit allows you to place the pegs in one of 8 different positions. The manufacturer also makes a 50 mm version of the kit if you believe you need that length.

See, that is a prime example of someone not taking the time to do a search.
Inputting 'footpeg' resulted in a 1.9 second search with many threads on the subject. The 16th down was Warden's excellent thread re the MFWs. I did not read any of the threads above his, but I'm betting that at least one of them referenced Warden's post.
I can not understand why someone would not want to make the effort to avail themselves of an excellent resource.
Brandon, sorry that I used your question as an example, but it was quite significant considering that the subject was so easy to research, and you did not offer any info as to why you did not try a search.
The rest of you, take up sides and let the flames fly because this old boy don't care.

..... hey Brandon - here is a thread that covers raised seats and lower pegs.
First few of times I tried the search function it flipped out and told me not enough words and stuff like that but it has been improved over the last couple of years and usually brings up some good results.
Clicky on this: http://www.triumphrat.net/sprint-for...ower-pegs.html
And if you search in the Sprint Forum for 'raised seat' 'higher seat' 'lower pegs' etc you will get a heap of posts to trawl through.
Enjoy

Ok, Ok. Thanks everyone. First thanks Triple Ripple for pointing me in the right location that's all I needed. Apparently my search was inadequate and not through, my apologies. Secondly thanks WardenRoss, your post was great and informative. I have the parts on order and I'm sure the installation will be a breeze by following your instructions. Thanks for the leading the way.
Beside what WardenRoss great post provided I was also looking for input/opinions on the plus and minus of lower pegs versus seats. Who had install them and what they thought?
Now that I'm burning in agony my post will probably only be ridiculed, laughed at, and sent to the bottom of the message board.

Ha, ha. Not really.
The search function can be tricky and frustrating at times because all it is doing is a simple "find" for a word. What most do, when striking out, is to say something along the lines that " I tried the blankety blank search and got nothing. Help me." But it is urged to be accurate, because someone will come along and use the same search term and post the results.
The reason I nag about the search is because I know there is a wealth of knowledge in the forum, and anyone ignoring that resource is doing themselves a disservice. Sure, the current members might have a ready answer, but my tenure in the forum has shown me that is not always the case.
As to the question re lower seat or pegs, my quick thought on it is that one option opens the knee joint angle, while the other option closes the angle. Doing both could retain the original configuration.
Do not know if you have considered that aspect of it and how your body would acclimate to those positions?

search options
Another search tip is to use Google to search this site if the site's built-in search function leaves you frustrated. Google will come back with a lot of threads that have the words you searched on. Sometimes too many threads
