Two Sprint 1050 seat cowl options. See pics

Ok fellas,

I need some help. The first pic is most likely a Powerbronze seat cowl. It has a small center hump to it, which rises of the seat a bit.

It's the second one I haven't seen. It has a very flat profile to it. I think it fits perfectly. Does anyone know anything about the second one.

Do you think it might be custom made?

Props to the two guys from bikepics.com where I found the snaps.

Are you sure that second one isn't a custom seat cover and not a cowl at all? I'm seeing an upholstery bead, not a gap like a cowl would have.

It could be a custom mold cowl, would not really be all that hard to make one. Shrink wrap the stock seat and make a fiberglass female mold. Lay up a single layer cloth within. Sand, paint. If done well, it would fit snug enough over the seat to not require any fasteners. Might not be real strong but it looks like the guy who did it was looking for form over function anyway.

The second one is a complete seat out of Germany. The builder will not ship to the States, so for us here it is a non-option. Kory had a thread on it some time ago.

What Garyhjd said is accurate re the vendor not selling his cowl in the U.S.

As far as I recall, previous threads about it did not expound on the rationale for not exporting to the U.S. They mainly focused on it's appearance and if the seat is different or modified.

The mfgr web site is http://www.hs-1.de/

I'm just guessing that it is functional since it appears to have a lock set. The pictures of his other products make me believe that his products are excellent design and quality.

A careful reading of the forum will show pictures from at least one European member's pics of it on his bike. AimoPaukku's pics might be a good place to start.

When pics of it initially appeared in this forum, many stated they were going to contact the vendor.

I actually did, and this was the response:

We are very sorry but at the moment we do not deliver in US because of product liability / insurance reasons.

Thanks Aimo,

I think I'll have to get the Powerbronze. It's not that bad. Even if the guy sold to the US, I doubt I could afford the new seat. Looks great though.
