Engine Lugging

Hey, I have a 00 RS and I put new plugs, and a two bros exhaust on, had the ecu re curved for the pipe. After all that, the engine lugs between 2500 - 3500 rpm, It just like choke and pukes but once I get past 3500 it just kicks in and goes like stink. This also happens if the rpm is not high enough off the line. Any ideas? Thanks

IT sounds like it's lean off the line unless you are lugging it.
How much did you have done and what did they check? How many total miles and are the inspections and servicing up to date?

it lugs

I had the engine ECU tuned for the aftermarket pipe, whatever they did? They also adjusted the valves, all the other servicing is up to date. Even when I start from a stop, even if I get the revs high, as soon as the tranny kicks in and you start going 2588 2800 3000 3300 3400 it chokes and pukes with anything more then a little throttle, and I mean a little, BUT when you reach 3500rpm it kicks itself in the butt like a slingshot and zoom, its almost like turbo lag???

Well if it were me I'd head back to the shop that did the re-map with your questions. One thing to check, plug gaps?

Make sure (when you take it back to the shop) that they check the CO from the exhaust. Your bike ('99 - '01) has a tuneable fuel map.

They may not have, and you may be suffering an improper mixture in that rev range.

Definitely take it back to the shop, if you have not done so already.

Your description reminds me of what we called a tip-in acceleration symptom. It can be caused by something as simple as the plugs and wires. Fuel pressure is also a consideration, but I don't think I read anything in your post that indicates the FPR being involved.

One of the sensors could also be at fault. A hose may have been disturbed and is now leaking or kinked, or an electrical connection compromised.

In any case, even though I do most of my own work, I would be taking it back to them since they did ECU remap. Do not be surprised if they balk. After all, they only did the ECU remap, not the plugs and exhaust. But, since there is a problem, they should be willing to re-verify the tune for you.

Keep us informed, if you do not mind.
