Warranty Question

Took my bike (2006) in to the dealer last Saturday for new lock set replacement under warranty. Gas cap tumbler completely failed. See other post for more info. Anyway, called this past Friday for an update. Part had not come in. Anyone else experienced delays in parts like this? Almost an entire week? Only reason I am concerned is I am 3 hours away from the dealer, and I can only pick up on a Saturday due to my work schedule. Perhaps the part is coming on a barge from the UK? I just thought with today's fast shipping options, surely a week would be time enough to get in a part. Service manager could not offer any insight into when the part would arrive. Simply, we'll call you when it hits the door. I hate to be impatient, but I miss my bike!

Nothing worse than waiting for parts. Sounds about normal though

..... yes long delays can happen - and dealers are not always on the ball with keeping you informed.

I've had 2 warrranty jobs done on my bike and in both cases I waited for the parts to arrive before I took the bike in - neither were urgent.

Both were about 2-3 weeks (from memory) which I guess may be about right to get stuff from England at the cheapest rates.

Finally

Update...So I am sleeping soundly when my phone starts ringing. It is my dealer saying, "Hey man, your bike's ready." Just two days shy of four weeks since I dropped my 2006 Sprint off for the silly lock set replacement warranty job. I can't tell you how happy I was. But...I was on vacation out of state (Deleware) at the beach. And to make matters worse, my flight doesn't get in Saturday until after they close. So I can't go pick her up until next Saturday (5 weeks). Oh well...I'll just have to count down the days. I went ahead and had them slap some Bridgestone BT 021's on. Dual compound tire. Anyone tried them out? I was dissapointed in the stock Bridgestone's. Hopefully these will be more impressive. Looking forward to being back on 2 wheels after being deprived for so long.

Here's a contact at Triumph in Georgia for venting purposes and possibly some help with warranty issues:

I personally like the Bridgestone BT-021. I have had good luck with my first set. The front tire did wear kind of funny in the end, the soft sides wore off and left the hard center. I am hoping they resolve this. The good thing though is the rear tire has a great hard center and I wore bothe front and back tire out at the same time for a change.

Good Luck

I'm Back on 2 Wheels!

Got my bike back Saturday. 5 weeks to the day of when I dropped it off. It was worth the wait. I can put gas in again, and I have new tires. New lock set, and two new blank keys to get cut for the luggage. Original keys got a bit banged up during the effort to get the cap open. The 3 hour ride home was great. Quick queston off the subject...does anyone know what the plug is hanging under the left side of the cockpit? It is near where the ignition plugs in. Just curious. I noticed it inspecting the work done. I assume it is for heated grips or an alarm?

The left side plug should be for the heated grips.
