Are The Hinckley Boys OK?
Noticed a trail of oil on my 2009 Sprint coming from the alternator cover.
Pulled out a torque wrench and found out none of the bolts were torqued.
Checked all the other covers and found the same.
I hope this is isolated to the outside and not inside the engine.

That should have been checked by your dealer when you picked it up. That is what the PDI charge is when you purchase a bike. I'd let your dealer know.

I had the same thing within the first 1k miles. I torqued everything correctly and no more leaks. I have concluded that most motorcycle dealers employ retards for bike mechanics.

There were two other problems on my 06 Sprint when new.
The horn bracket was loose, almost fell off!
An ignition wire (looking from the front, just left, above the horn)was severely pinched with an over tightened zip tie. The zip tie had worn through the outer insulation from the steering head going back and forth. I forgot who pointed this out this flaw, but the wire would short or open and you would loose power. The wire may have been for the kill switch.
Oh, just remembered a third thing. The front brake hydraulic hose was routed wrong and missed the retaining hook that is attached to the horn bracket. If my memory is correct.

I knew that the dealer pulls the bike out of the crate and fills it with fluids ETC...
The bolts were barely finger tight. Doesn't the factory torque the bolts before it leaves?

I heard the idiot who did my motor swap was moving back to England. Sounds like he's found a job at Jacknell Road...

Retards for bike mechanics......and that Ricster is the reason I dread service time.
You do the right thing and take your bike in for a service, but does the guy adjusting your valves for example, really know what he's doing...or is near enough good enough.

I remember a few years back there were reports of FZ6 front calipers falling off new and recently (dealership) serviced bikes. Scary stuff.
It's surprising this stuff still goes on when you consider the liability involved when loose bolts slip through both the factory and dealership.

Retards, idiots?
Those descriptions could be accurate in some instances, but do you think it fair, or even logical, to characterize an entire occupation in that manner, when you could opt to describe their specific acts instead of their character?
After all, would it be fair for the mechanics to characterize all riders as illiterate solely based on the ones that are incapable of reading their owner's manual?
