I went for a weekend long ride (a few weeks ago). Bike was awsome. Only one thing I would change is to add a cruise control to give my right wrist a break. Does anyone have any experience with this item for a 00 rs?

I installed a BrakeAway on my 05 ST and it works great. Sport bikes aren't listed on there site but the instruction sheet that came with it show it on a sport bike, fits perfectly after some minor adjustments recommended in the installation instructions.

199.95 and free shipping from MidnightSupply, they were fast and friendly.

Caterpiller (the heavy equipment folks) make a big yellow O-ring that you can fit on the bars between the right edge of the grip and the barend weight to take the pressure off your wrist. I think cost is under $5 USD. I'm sure you can find the part number somewhere if you search for it. It's on my list of things to get when I remember.

I use the ThrottleRocker it is great, and I tried the ThrottleMeister it's OK, but the BrakeAway works like a cruise control, as soon as you touch the front brake it releases the throttle, and it is very smooth to adjust compared to the ThrottleMeister and the Caterpillar rubberband. I have tried both and the BrakeAway works better.

I still have the ThrottleRocker on there with the BrakeAway.

The Oring can also be ordered in most industrial supply houses as a #321. It'll be black too. Buy two, one for each side.. use one , have one as a spare and it balances the look.

I just did a 1800 mile trip and I also use a throttle rocker as well as the Oring solution. BOTH make a huge difference.

I just did a 800 mile roundtrip on business on my ST. To me (IMNSHO) the throttle rocker saves my right wrist. I also have the throttlemeister, however, I only use this to give my right hand a break from holding the throttle. I would think an electronic cruise control would be best.

I get a lot of compliments on the Brakeaway cruise control which is installed on my '05 Sprint. One engineer friend looked at it and was amazed at the quality and wondered how it could possibly be made for $199 and still be profitable to the manufacturer.

See my Photo Album below if you want to see a picture of it mounted on my bike.

Disclaimer: I have no stake or relationship with the manufacturer. I'm simply a very satisfied customer. (I felt obligated to make that statement because I've been so supportive of www.brakeawayproducts.com elsewhere on this forum.)
