It is time to retread.

For those riding the Z6's, would you be willing to offer your opinions and views to the following questions?

1. What are your impressions thus far?

2. How much are you spending to purchase and install these tires?

3. If purchasing tires on-line, where have you noticed the best prices?

Thanks.

Replaced the rear Z4 with a Z6. will replace the front Z4 when it goes, in about 1,000 more miles.

I really enjoy the new tire. Had it put on right before I attended an 8 hour class with Lee Parks - Total control. The new tire really inspired me to take it right to the edge. No dramatics, just gripped.

I support my local Triumph dealer, paid 200.00 installed. I just rode my bike in, and rode it out. I know that's more than what you can find online, but what the heck. I like those guys at Phoenix International Motorsports- they treat me right.

I haven't put Z6's on my sprint yet, but I have them on one of my kats and I love them. As soon as I need tires that's what's going on the sprint too. I got them last year for about $150 shipped, I don't remember where though. Mounting was $20, but I took the wheels off myself and just took them to the dealer.

I put my first Z6 (rear-only) about 400 miles ago. Got it delivered to my house from MAWonline.com for about $130. Installed and balanced it myself. Love it thus far although I have not pushed it really hard in the corners yet.

Had several sets of BT020s (front and rear) on the bike since new. Although I found the grip on the 020s to be OK, I was only getting about 3000 miles out of the rear. After talking w/ a Metzeler rep at Daytona, I decided to make the switch. If the stick proves to be comparable to the 020s and I get better mileage out of the rear (as reported), what a deal! Obviously I will put a Z6 on the front once the existing 020 wears out. As Motorcycle Consumer News states, there is no problem mixing tires from different manufacturers as long as their both radials.

Hi guys,
what km's are you getting from a set of Z6's if you ride quite hard frequently?

bought my from mawonline as well ( www.accwhse.com ). saved maybe $40 front and rear on the skins themselves on dealer price, installation is installation.

i've got about 1,500 miles on them and like them much better than stock. i just feel more stable and i trust them more - especially when it counts (hard twisties and/or rain)!

I replaced the BT020's with Z6's about 800 miles ago, it is like a completely different bike. Much better ride and turn-in. I haven't had them in the rain yet, so I can't comment on that.

I paid $225.39 OTD for both at Cycle Gear. That was me carrying the wheels in, mounted/balanced, road hazard warranty, taxes and everything. Mounted in about 30 mins.

I was looking at Southwest Moto Tires before I caught the sale at Cycle Gear. They have the front for $94.95 and the rear for $117.95 with free shipping on a pair of tires. Everyone that I know who have ordered from them have pretty much had no complaints.

See the hoops sticky thread at top.

Fantastic tires. Best in the wet that I've ridden and excellent in the dry. Pick your line and lean angle and it holds it. No falling in or having to readjust.
Warms up pretty good too unlike the previous Metz series. It's a lighter tire manufactured in the newer one shot process.

I feel that it's a mistake to not put both on at the same time. Especially the rear without the front, particularly if you ride in the wet, as they are complementary. There is no tread in the center on the rear. The front does effectively provide a channel for the rear to pass through. I know, I ride in a lot of wet.
Also since I ride rather aggressively I like to keep the heat cycles matched on the tires. Probably just my own thing but each to his own. I just can't see putting on a new rear with an old front when that's the that one does all the work.

I can't remember what the total price was But I bought them from my dealer and had them mount and balance them. The price was such that I couldn't afford not to go that way.

I haven't put the miles since having them that I want but at about 3000 miles there is no wear and the depths are the same as new. No cupping and they track smooth.

They really transformed the bike and unless something newer, better comes along I'll get another set when the time comes.

Don

Hi All,
I can atest to SouthWest Moto Tire. I had a dealer say something to the effect "yeah but they are two year old tires for that price". When I got the Avons I ordered from them they were date coded 0505 and 0705. That means the tires were pproduced in Feb of 2005.
They got them to me in three days. And at $224 for both, including shipping I feel they did real good by me. I would not hesistate to buy another set of tires from them.

I was interested in the Z6 and so looked up Metzeler's website. They recommend the Rennsport for the Sprint RS?

Which Tire would this site recommend?
