Smile Need Help on 06 ST seat

Hello everyone it has been a while from my last post here anyway I need a little help. I am 5'9" and my problem is on my 06 sprint ST the position push me into the tank which puts stress on my hands and arms to push away. I have the taller bars install but this still doesn't help. I was thinking of purchasing the Corbin Seat but I will have to make sure my wife is comfortable on it also. Would like any suggestions.

Hey mate I had the same problem even though I'm all of an inch taller .

I finally bit the bullet and bought a gel touring seat. Now it is a little more comfortable but the real plus was the alacantra covering which stopped me slipping forward all the time. It really has made a huge difference to me.

I also found it pays to keep a close eye on tyre pressures.

If your happy with comfort of the stock seat you might want to see if a local upholsterer can re cover it with something more grippy.

Best of luck

Send the seat to this person Spencer (see website below). for about $70-$90 you will your OEM seat back and reshaped if you request for both you and your passenger. He was writtern up in Rider magazine about 86 months ago with a great review. I believe the article is also somewhere on his website too. Well respected by the COG and FJR groups.

He also replaces the OEM foam with a much better foam for long distance riding, reattacheds the OEM cover and pan and voila....new seat while still retaining the OEM look. Turn around is about 48 hours upon his receipt. Awsome work and I am thrilled with mine. A much better compromise than spending $400+ on a corbin.

He has been discussed previously in this forum, and another on this site, and all comments were highly favorable. One of the previous posters said that they obtained a fancy cover from another source, then sent that cover along with their seat to him and he installed it with no extra charge.

I am somewhat taller than you (6', 250lbs), but I had the same 'slipping into the tank' issue - I was forever squirming back to a position I liked and then sliding forwards into it again... until I changed the seat out for the Triumph gel seat and adjusted my suspension - now I remain where I want to sit.

Fix it yourself

All you need is a pair of pliers to pull the staples, a hex key and a spanner to remove the cover and bolts.

A pen to mark out what you want to remove, an electric knife to carve it, an angle grinder with a fine/medium grade sanding pad to smooth out the foam.

A staple gun to refit the cover, refit the two bolts and job done.

Shouldn't take more than 2 hours to do.

Check out this website for some tips http://www.diymotorcycleseat.com/
