Ok, I tried, according to manual (20 words of instruction) and I wasn't even close to managing it ...

how on earth do you easily use the center stand. In fact, how do you use it with difficulty!? I was in a garage with a smooth surface and fairly flat.

face the bike squarly, push down with foot, not much lifting with hand but all push with foot. use your hand to guide the bike back. most important to face side of bike squarly.

Left hand on left bar (just to balance bike).
Right hand on passenger foot peg mount (the black triangle).
Right foot on center stand base holding it to floor.
Rock back pulling mostly with right hand on triangle.

It's easier without a full tank of gas. I'm 5'8, 160 and I haven't had much difficulty lofting it up there.

Bike in neutral, ball of right foot on stand, right hand on flip-out handle, left on handlebars. step up on the right foot while pulling UP (not back) with the right hand. Then I click it back into first, whimper something about a hernia, and walk away.

I'm also 6'2" and around 250lbs... that helps.

Left hand on the handlebar, right hand on the hand hold that's the top of the passenger footpeg bracket. Push the sidestand down with the right foot until it touches the ground. Lean the bike away slightly until you feel the other side of the side stand touch the ground. Push down with right foot while pulling up with right hand. It's more foot than hand and a momentum thing. You'll get used to it quickly.

encountered the same difficulty until i noticed i wasn't getting both legs of the centerstand touching the ground when trying to use it - was much easier thereafter.

You will know when you have got it right because it won't be very difficult.

If you are busting your butt you havent got it right.

It is not about effort or strength but technique.

Cheers,
Dave
