There are time when I travel, I like to use a rear seat pack. I have never had a problem on the other bikes I have owned, but, my '00 Sprint ST is giving me fits! Does any body have a solution about the placement of the hooks without scratching the body work? Am I the only one with this problem as I have never seen it brought up before.

Out here you can buy motorbike straps that have no metal hooks - they use velcro and webbing.

yet another advantage of the sergent seat, it has the fold out bungee hooks that come out from the seat

You can buy little black clips that fit on the edge of the seat and are designed just for this purpose. I've long ago discarded the package and don't remember the name - but I found them at the local bike shop.

I also went to the local hardware store and found nice stainless steel bolts that match the cowling fitting on the seat. I cut the bolts so they project just enough to hold the bungee cord.

Results are unobtrusive but very workable.

The solution is very easy and free.

Remove seat. Turn pack upside down on ground. balance the seat on the pack. Wrap the straps around the seat hooking the L straps to R straps. Put the seat back on the bike.

We attach my Wife's luggage to her SV650 like this every time she rides. Nothing touches the body work and it's nice and secure.

Does anyone know where to get the clips that PaloAlto talked about? They sound like what I want.
