What's the policy on naming names and slamming specific Triumph dealers in this forum?

I just got messed up for the third time in as many months by the one and only Columbus, Ohio area dealer and I'm mad as hell. I wanted to give them one more chance, (out of convenience's sake), but dammit if they didn't burn me again!

I had a friend stop by this place earlier this evening to pick up some oil and a filter for me after I called their parts dept and told them exactly what I needed for my '00 RS. What I received was a filter that's too small and oil that's the wrong weight.

I guess this is what happens when there are kids no more than 20 years old with poor customer-service skills running the parts wrap and a service bay that's only focused on making the time to work on their own street fighters between customers' bikes.

I've taken it up the Hind end for the last time when it comes to addressing my Motorsports needs.

You can if you want. Just keep it civil
There is also a dealers forum in the general to vent in if you want.

Buhlit-Tueth If I were u I'd post it in the dealer forum . Word of mouth is the best & worst form of advertisement . Hopefully somebody there will read it & care. :-o

One consideration: Truimph changed the outside diameter of their oil filters!

I recently purchased a truimph oil filter that was smaller in diameter than the others I had purchased and installed. I believe Triumph has a different supplier. My filter wrench (Suzuki) no longer fits the newer filters. I called to double check that it's the correct filter and it is! It fits, I just won't be able to remove it with my current filter wrench.

Snovst is correct. Triumph changed the filter design but the two are interchangeable. As for the oil, Triumph allows some leeway in the owners manual. The factory Mobil is 15-50 but fully synthetic 10-40 is also allowable and and some will say that they seem to shift better with the lighter weight oil.

The problem probably is not in the merchandise but in the people skill of the folks behind the counter. This should have been explained when you bought the items.

It's pretty hard to find people with decades of real experience and knowledge willing to work in a dealership. The pay is low and there is usually no benefits package at all. Quite a few shops pay straight commission. This means it's hard to pay the heating bills in winter and impossible to get time off to ride in summer.

That Columbus dealer wouldn't happen to be Hinds Motorsports would it.? Read my bit on them here and in the General column. In 30 years of riding I've never dealt with such consistency, of incompetence and poor service. I suggest contacting Head of customer service, Peter Carleo at Peter.Carleo@triumphmotorcycles.com . Feel free to reference me as I've contacted him repeatedly concerning the dirt on the Triumph marque that Hinds is piling up.
