Charity event for UK armed forces

Guys

Not meaning to tread on anyone's toes and I know this would normally go in the events section, but wondered if there are any UK posters on here who would be up for this? - Could be a good way to meet some fellow sprinters and see some local English roads

At an open day held by Ducati Aylesbury was the following stand -

run by the Army and RAF with their Help for Heroes collection, see ....

http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk

They were heavily promoting their Poker Run to be run on 30th May 2009, organised by RAF Brize Norton Bike Club.

Essentially you plan your own route to take in the following dealers in the Bucks, Oxon & Wilts counties;

1. George Whites (Swindon, Wilts)
2. OnYerBike/Ducati Aylesbury (Westcott, Bucks)
3. Honda Abingdon (Oxon)
4. Harley Davidson Wootton (Oxon)

The run finishes at 5. H Cafe/MPS Berinsfield (Oxon)

At each stop point each entrant will receive a playing card and when you collect your last one at the end point you declare your hand. The highest poker hands will win a variety of prizes - helmets, gloves etc!

Who would be interested in taking part?

The event is not a race
There are no prizes for completing the event in the fastest time
There is no set route to take
The starting point for everyone is George Whites and finishing point is H Cafe/MPS - all other stops may be taken along a route of your choosing

Thanks for the heads up.

Sounds like fun, both my wife and myself have 2005 ST1050 and our son flew out of Brize Norton to go back to Iraq earlier this week. unfortunatly we are going to France on the bikes the week before and don't get back until the 31st! Damn

Have fun with it and good luck!

Sounds like fun

I will put it in the MKAM (IAM) newsletter this month.

If I am around I will probably give it a go.

This sounds interesting & in a good cause - I live about 2 miles from GWs so start point is easy. What do you need from me in terms of info, entry or being part of a team etc?

If you are willing to join in, that's great.

Perhaps you would be kind enough to pm me your contact details and I will give you a call?

I think registration is £10 on the day, and a lady on T595.net is sorting out the route and we already have two cake stops booked in (!) so, if the weather is like today here in Colchester, will be a lovely day regardless of winning any prizes!

This sounds good I'll definately check the date against my diary, sounds like a damn fine way to spend a day and all in a good cause. A link to the full event details would be useful or have I missed them somewhere?

I haven't got the full details - as it was someone who went to a Ducati Open Day and saw some Army and RAF personnel there.

All I know is that this day is planned - http://www.italiansportingclub.co.uk...topic3954.html

I will try and find out more info and post it up.
