Seat Poll 955's and 1050's

A commonly asked forum question here is what seat do you have and do you like it?

My bike is a 955.

Well I have an '04 Sprint ST with the Triumph Gel seat which I purchased along with a lot of other goodies slightly used (once) at a very cheap price.

My wife and I are very happy with it solo or two up.

One thing to note if you leave this seat in hot sun covered it will absorb a lot of heat, I always either park in the shade or cover mine with a small towel I carry anyway.

I have made this poll so that you can vote more than once as you may purchase or try an altered seat and be unhappy with it and later get something else which suits you and or your pillion better.
Please only vote once if you have used only one seat.

cheers
DaveM

Remolded Saddle

I have a '07 Sprint and find the stock saddle unacceptable for a big guy (6'4" & 230lb). I'm having the stock saddle's foam remolded by a local custom saddle company.

I have a 2008 sprint with stock seat and very happy with it. It is far better than the gel seat I had on my 2002 sprint. As far as pillion goes my wife hated the 2002 seat it was uncomfortable and she kept sliding down onto me. It was a bit better when I fitted an Airhawk cushion. She finds the 2008 seat more comfortable but still slides down onto me. I'm thinking about having the rear section of the seat re-shaped by an upholsterer.

2008 here on a stock seat. Longest trip in a day so far is 350 miles, and have to say it is more comfortable over that distance that my 2005 955i Tiger was. Then again, perhaps that's 'cos on the Tiger more weight was placed on your arse... anyway nocomplaints from me...

2000 RS. I have the Sargent. Comfortwise it keeps me from sliding into the tank so much, but doesn't really change the distance I can ride. It is much more comfortable than stock for two up as it maintains a little bit of wiggle room between pilot and copilot. The stock seat squished me between the tank and the passenger. If I was the only rider I'd keep the stock seat and the cool seat cowling that you can't use on the sargent.

2008 ST with the stock seat that I have shaved down and reshaped. I have done this on past bikes so I had no reservations on attempting it again. A grinder and wood rasp can do wonders as long as you have a little patience.

I like Corbin seats too, but decided to re-work my stock seat for the time being. If I were to ever change for some reason it would probably be a Corbin.

My 2008 ST has Triumph's gel seat, longest ride to date was just 160 miles and it's quite comfortable. I had a Corbin on my 2001 ST and when I can afford to, I would like to have the Corbin on this bike, also.

I have just replaced the stock seat on my '04 RS with the stock seat from a Sprint RS. (The original had torn at the front top, just wear & tear.)

I find it perfectly comfortable for a 350 mile day, not bad at all for 550 miles, but horribly uncomfortable after 1000 miles in a day.

I have not had a pillion on a regular basis since I got this bike, so I can't really speak to that issue.

Cheers,
-Kit

The stock seat on my Speedy is a tool of torture. It's tilted to slide the jewels into the angular tank. No organic shape to gently bump into, just a rounded corner to clink the Bocce balls against. My solution was a thick chunk of medical grade gel wrapped in NZ black wool. It works but gets too hot in the summer. I'm guessing the NZ sheep skin came from the south island where the penguins live. Here's a pic.

06, shaved and narrowed seat.

No fuzzy Afro on my bike.
