Imaginative Servicing Ideas
Hi,
had a new chain/sprockets fitted on Friday.
Whilst waiting for the work to be completed, I was chatting with a fella who'd brought in his Speedmaster for a 10K service. During the conversation, the service guy came up to this fella and said "Triumph recommend check and adjustment of shims at 20K, but we recommend that they get checked at 10K - do you want to have that done?". This fella asks the guy why would he? The bike is still under warranty, if the shims/valves fail, it's a warranty job, so why would he spend the additional $300.00 to get essentially an unnecessary procedure done?? The service guys response was classic... "If you do it now, it will take less time at 20K so we won't have to charge as much - assuming there's no adjustment necessary..."
The Speedmaster owner naturally said no thanks...
Nice way of upping the labour charge on a service.
Cheers,
Neil
