Plenty of talk through the forum about soft panniers, however one question seems left to be asked.. After mounting soft panniers/saddlebags on an ST, is it still possible to ride 2-up? I only ask because after holding a set of Oxford panniers up against my bike (but not actually fitting them) it seemed as if they would have to be mounted far enough forward (due to the rear indicators) to prevent the passenger being able to reach their foot pegs!? Any tales / experience would be appreciated.. With thanks..

If you're talking about an '05, the rear mudflap moves rearward about 2 inches or so, using a second set of mount points.

I have an 02 ST and 2 up is not an option with the Triumph Soft Bags, as the buckles/straps from the bags would hurt the passenger's bootay.

Mine is an '01 Sprint.. As for hurting the passengers booty, it may be a case of using a gel over-seat if that is the only issue.. It's more a question of whether or not they will be able to reach the pegs..

Just returned from a 2200 mile round trip to the Swiss Alps, two up with the Triumph soft luggage.
No problems whatsoever, secure, waterproof with rain covers fitted, and no complaints from the other half about arse ache. The buckles look threatening and painfull, but in use are not a problem.
Hope this helps..............Tony

PS. Them Alpine roads are something else, what a fantastic experience. :-D

G'day.

I've got "as new" soft panniers that a mate sold me after he totaled his 02 ST. They had never been used, but he could not find the two plastic side covers that protect the side panel paintwork.

I've had them on, two up, my girl thought they were good, no problems with the foot pegs or comfort.

Anyone got the fitting instructions - I got it figured out but would be good to confirm.

Thx.

My Joe Rocket Velocity bags sit over the seat, I just moved my signal lights back for a bit more room (factory second holes). I have the mounting in my photo album, take a look.
