I recently bought a 2000 ST. Right now it has an Avon Azarro II 190/50/17 tire on back. I was thinking of going back to the recommended size. Any model recommendations? Any online purchase recommendations?

Hi Scott,
glad to hear you bought a Trumpy triple! :-D
You will find the standard 180 size will help you turn more quickly, I have made that blue myself, bigger is not always better
There's a lot about tyres here. Depends how you ride and where mostly. I am on Azaro ST's and very happy with them, good wet dry grip and longevity good too. Dolson has Metzler Z6's and says they are really good too. Some prefer a more sporty tyre but then wear starts to be an issue. Good luck I expect a lot of replies form your question.

Cheers,
Dave

Avon AV45/46 combo is the best - period. Endorsed by Iron Butt champions, they have the best combination of wear/performance and price out there.

I'll plug the Conti Road Attack's. I just switched my rear out as I was just getting to the wear bars. 10.6k miles out of it. Mostly commuting miles (i.e. a lot more stop and go than the normal weekend strifing). It is definitely more sticky than the stock BT57's. For comparison, I got 8.5k out of my stock BT57's.

Hey cafetbird,
I'm with you mate, 3 sets of Azaro ST 45/46's later and I think they're great. Excuse my ignorance but who or what are the " Iron Butt champions"? That's a new one for me.

Any way Scott plenty of tyre comments to read here so read on and find what suits your riding style and pocket best.

Hi cafe,
You might want to check out Southwest Moto tires.
I got a set of Avon A 45/46 for $224 with shipping included. Of course I ahd to pay $55 to get them mounted locally but that was still cheaper by $50 than the local shops wanted just for the tires.
They are on the web at

Southwest moto

I switched from the stockers to the me z6's. I get most of my tires here.

Tires

Shipping was about 6 bucks for 1 tire.

I can't decide what I want to do. I put three sets of Avon Azaros on the BMW; I liked 'em THAT much! I would like to broaden my horizon and try something outside of the Mich' Macadam (sucks), M1 Sportech (orgasmic), Mz4 (refined), 880's (why?), and the BT57/014 versions of the Batllax (I HATE 'em until they're almost bald((???)). I have another set of these soft compound 014's sitting in the living room right now, with the hope that I can do another Track Day.

As much as I like the Avons, I'm still left to wonder how the Mich' Pilot Roads would do, or these recently spoken of Conti Road Attacks, or another set of Dunlops like I used to run on the Sportster 1200 Sport......

I tend to put quite a few miles on my bikes, but I can't afford to buy tires all the time. I'm still looking for "the perfect all around tire." I'm a BIG fan of the Avon Azaro AV45/46, and they seem to be gaining popularity among Triumph Sprint owners. But if I go Avon again, I'm not broadening my horizon(s).

What to do, what to do..... :???:

I bought the Avon AV45/46 from Southwest Moto. I also went back to the 180/55/17 tire. Thanks for all of the advice, and Southwest Moto saved me some cash on the tires.
