Thumbs down Triumph Australia ***

Without a doubt this bike has been the best I have owned but the HARDEST to sell.

Every other bike I have sold is normally gone within 6 weeks but the ST has been on the market since Nov 08 and now Triumph are selling NEW 08 models for ?????

$14,490 Ride Away

I mean, ***, this makes an 07 with over $3500 of extras worth about $10,000 or below

Talk about protecting their brand value, you don't sell H-D selling cheap (well I haven't)

Great time ot buy but not good if you are selling

Cheers
Poddy

I don't think its just that model or brand.....looking at some of the classifieds around not much moving really at all.....after looking at em and reading about them why do you want to sell?

Sorry to hear of the trouble selling but it could be economy wise too. My Sprint sold in 24 hours of placing my add.

mcasswell, only selling her as I have bad knees and can't ride her.

With an 07 FJR as well the MFWF has stated that "... no more toys till you sell some" and the ST doesn't get used (at all) so its the one to go.

Cheers

Poddy,

T's do depreciate faster than most, but with this economy most bikes are really hard to sell. All the Harley dealers here have big sale signs on the buildings, and if you buy a sportster now and trade it in later they will give you full value towards another harley. So times are tough.

My dealer made me a crazy deal on a new tiger, but with the bath I would take on the sprint I haven't jumped on it. Best of luck

Poddy

You reckon you are having trouble flogging your Sprint.

My 05 FZ1 has been for sale for a year. It has been on Ebay for $7500 twice, it has been on Bikepoint virtually all of that time and on Trading Post since about September. I have had one person look at it and take it for a test ride (he was a mate of mate) and three others make a phone enquiry in all that time.

I wish you luck

I havent tried to sell a bike privately but I usually trade at a dealer. I traded a BMW R1100RT to an 01 Sprint and then the 01 to an 06 Sprint. For all the trade ins that I have done for all vehicles, bikes, cars, 4WDs and commercials, the 01 had the best value trade in by far as a percentage of purchase price. It had done 65,000 km's needed a complete respray due to road rash and had stuffed front discs. It was reasonably well equpied with accessories and was sold from the dealer within 2 weeks. My friend had traded an 00 RS on a Speed Triple at about the same time. His bike had only 35,000 km's and was really cleran and immaculate. It sat at the dealer for over 12 months before being sold. The vehicle market is at best a volatile place, particularly in the current economic times (read nervous) and trying to sell something quite new into the market is going to a challenge at the best of times. The best market place for you might be your friends and colleages. Best luck Poddy but I don't think that its the bike.
Cheers, Simmo

Sorry to hear of the problems poddy.

The poor resale was one of the reasons that I bought in to Triumph. Bad for some good for others,,, Sorry

I agree with Simmo and I also only deal with dealers the same as he does.

Look at late model R1's, guys were paying around $19k for a new one now see what a litre sports bike is worth 3 years later, even with low kms they are not worth much.
